sotal, say hello to little daz and everyone else.:) so why then did the new plug george fitted only last him a year? think theres to many variables, now i know why vw wanted to charge me 60 odd quid for a new glow plug,there obviously punting the new type. there are many peeps who changed them way way back who havnt had to repost on the subject(yet) so im assuming there booster heaters with the old plugs are working as they should and have lasted more then a year. or is it just a few peeps been unluckey and perhaps there was a bad batch of glow plugs produced?? my head hurts,WONDER if this thread will now turn into an epic like the main 1 has? ;)

weve had the parking sensors stay on/horn and alarm,dealers checked it and found no problems,well they plugged it in,i said to my other half i reckoned it was to do with the ammount of rain we had about 4 weeks back.

so even with the revised plug it still only lasted a year?

im awaiting 1 aswell,i ordered mine from , avs car parts.

sounds like the transponder from the remote key ISNT THERE.have you checked that its actually there? yes you can buy a new remote key from ebay,but i would say your 1 is working ok,just missing the pats chip. just for reference on the side of the remote key is a code you will need to make sure that the new key has the same code/frequancy. if above is right then youve got a bit of a problem,as you will only have 1 working key. this is where your problems start,i:e COULD BE EXPENSIVE as ford will charge you something like

as said do check for frayed wires in the rear hatch area,but if this is a mk1 check under passenger seat for your very own swimming pool.

bj,just had a thought here buddy,do a exchange jobby? that way the punter isnt without a pump for too long. that way youve allways say got a couple in stock,ready to go so to speak.:lol:

DONT TRUST A WORD FORD TELLS YOU, ould well be the glow plug as all ready mentioned by others.fords no doubt will harge you a fortune for the new plug and then tell you that you need a new unit, and will charge you a STUPID AMMOUNT for it.

SHOT IN THE DARK HERE,but does the run on pump work? i know when mine failed the heater was spooling up and then cutting out,and it wasnt getting hot. im probably clutching at straws here but have the codes actually been read and cleared? ive gone over the thread again and cannot see any reference that they have,im just wondering whether its had the 5 flame out errors and all thats needed is a reset. still as youve got a lead on order then you an check yourself.

im assuming your model is the mk3? i know that a lot of memebers have found that on a lot of cars the wiring may allready be present so it might be just the case of buying the sensors/sounders etc .

i would personally go down the route of saying to them THAT YOU WANT A REFUND on any money you have paid to them in diagnosing the fault/s obviousley your stumped with the cost of the exhaust THINK you will have to put that 1 down to experiance im afraid, dunno how much it has cost you so far,but would think under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 then they havnt actually found the fault.now there telling you you might need a new heater and thats after saying to you on 2 occassions EVERYTHING is working ok,clearly you have now found out the hard way that fords dont have a clue what there doing on these cars,hence why forums like this 1 was set up,there have been endless posts/threads on the subject of dealers chasing a problem for it to end up costing the owner a bloody fortune for it to turn out to be something that ended up being a simple fix. good luck. ive been down this route myself when i bought my car,posted all about it,and i had some dealings with my local fords, i told them to get the parts from the vw garage opposite,we cant do that sir they wont be gaurenteed,WTF.

bit early for a cam belt change wasnt it? was wondering if it may be the alternator pulley squealing like a gooden? other then that i aint got a scooby.

sounds like your lock is fubared,do a search for the problem its quite common,they do repair kits on ebay. or you could rob the other lock and use that. windows going down/up is the global closing,at least thats working ok then,:( welcome to the forum.
