i think theres a compressor up for sale on ebay at the moment.

dunno if it would fail,if in doubt pay a visit to the garage who do your mots and ask there opinion,there has been on ebay recently a few of these.check out the vw sharan/alhambra as well as the galaxy on ebay as there are a lot of different adverts.

Hopefully, no-ones going to tell me my compressor's knackered or something!! unless you have had a horrible grauncing noise coming from the engine bay when you have switched the aircon on then i wouldnt of thought that your compressor is knackerd(but i could be wrong)does your climate panel(if fitted)flash when you turn the ignition on? are your scuttle drains blocked?theres a fix in the tech section.

if youve got legal on your insurance give them a call,and the insurance ombusman and let them know of the saga and see what they can suggest.

i done a round trip to Bournemouth last night 260 miles at no more then 70 mph and could only manage to get a reading off of the computer of ONLY 50.7MPG and when i dropped down to 60 it still would not go any higher,is there something wrong or can you only get higher readings if you drive at 40 mph????????

if the belt is starting to stink,then i would think that the compressor has seized??????.

i think your find its 28 days under the sale of goods act,if its a dealer let them know asap and tell them you will be getting advice on the matter,if its a private sale then you could do what has been suggested.

bleeno hire out a dehumidifier to help reduce the condensation in your van(close all doors and windows)that way you might be able to salvage some of the internal fittings etc.

mmmm yep,my old glx didny have an alarm BUT it did have central locking.

iirc in my old mk1 there was a box with 2no black connectors coming out of the control box(central locking)i was told if theres 3 then it has an alarm.if there isnt a box there then its either been moved somewhere else or moved to the previous owners garage.coz this is the item that gets fubared when wet.

i think this would quite easily come under the sale of goods act as an infringement,if it proves to be then give the trade and standard people a call.or confront the dealer first and see what they offer you,ie cash back and warranty etc etc.
