  1. If its a car that was bound and UK registered then it should have one as I believe all Ghia models had them as standard. Check for a bonnet switch (Passenger side by scuttle) Check for B pillar bulges at the top which hide ultrasonics. Check for a fuse in slot 54 (Check your manual that 54 is correct on your car) which is the alarm horn fuse. All of the above would indicate an alarm, none of the above would indicate none of the above and probably an import.
  2. Bit of a tricky one eh! There is also the possibility of a foreign object getting stuck between sensor/hub and the ring/CV - I had a large peice of branch do that once on a mondeo which caused similar damage. You would typically expect the resistance of an ABS sensor to be between 1K and 1.5KOhm so that one is showing a slight problem but I wouldn't of thought enough to generate a fault condition, how badly worn is the sensor ring? The easiest method of testing the sensor itself is to trick out the one you suspect to be faulty - pop down to Maplins (or the like) and buy a 1K resistor (about 2p lol) disconnect the suspect sensor and hold the resistor in place on the two wire terminals, turning the ignition on should yield no abs light staying on.
  3. Lots of prying is all you can do, when I removed mine the two allen bolts didn't seem to be doing anything it was all held by 8 years of crud lol. Lots of leavering and prying with big drivers, WD40 and some gentle hammering and you may get them off in one piece - They are only circa
  4. Deffo check the belt, also check the tie rod ends for play and the wishbone bushes - it'll all add up to very sloppy steering if anththings worn. Pump and Rack are last to suspect as they arn't typically considered durable items.
  5. As you look at the hinge there is a star bolt that's at a right angle to the rest of the hinge. At least 3 of mine were loose causing the door to drop - tightened them all up and the doors are spot on again so worth checking first!
  6. Humm I do like second hand parts but I dont think for major components I'd like to go down that route -
  7. Geoff, you say they come with A CV joint? Do they not come with the inner AND the outer then?
  8. Its "07/2000-2 en RHD" "Automatic speed control light, illuminates when the speed control system is switched on" (Pg 9) and then: "Press the switch on the side of the lever. The set speed becomes the new stored speed. The control light in the instrument panel will illuminate" (Pg 49)
  9. My manual says it should have a light with CC - would have been a warrenty claim if I'd owned the car when new lol
  10. I'm hoping to find out if there is a reason (read model/year group) that my CC light isn't on!! I dont need the light but I hate things not working so if it should be on then its needsl fixing lol!
  11. As per the other current thread regarding CC, myself and Big_Kev are interested in finding out a little more about how the cruise light was configured - Please help!
  12. What value are we looking at though?
  13. Thanks Mirez, but I am looking for another 5000 as I've got the cd changer in the boot. No problems, are you still using the tape player then? I only ask because the 6000CD is compatiable with the changer so you still get your 6 disc unit but also an extra one up front :16: Its in the for sale section now ;)
  14. From mine, 6000CD with code and security panel - good condition and tested.
  15. Pahh what a pile o poo, I can just hardwire that!!!! Maybe the alhambra cluster will care a little more lol
  16. Without wanting to sound rude is that tried and tested fact or just speculation? :)
  17. Hummmm.... so how do you turn it on then? My CC works as it should but I've not got a light (Which bugs me!)...
  18. If its green then its the cruise control light which is A) a complete rarity since most galaxys dont have them fitted :) not supposed to be on if you havn't got CC active...
  19. And now sold :)
  20. There are many ways to remove the nut, certainly shouldn't cost the kind of money you are being quoted!!! Depending on the type of nut thats on the car will depend on the easiest method of removal - most of the crappy older VW/Ford nuts which have the castella type nut (standard ford alloys up to about 05) find an old socket thats almost the size but a little too small then lump hammer it on, ensure its wedged on nicely and then simply undo it. The newer style McGuard nuts are a little more complex and you'll need something like the above.
  21. There is a fuse on the back of the unit itself, which I would meter out to ensure its not blown. If its taken out the main fuse though then one of the coins has shorted out something inside, if that was a PCB then chances are its taken that with it and its not fried. The "PHONE" display indicates that pin 5 on the yellow connector is at ground, this is how a car kit would mute your radio. If you dont have one connected then either there is a coin still in there or that PCB is completly fried as well. I have a 6000 for a galaxy if you need it - PM me
  22. The DVD player is in the car as mine only had the VCR option - there is spare connectivity though so I now have both VCR and DVD capabilities which may sound pointless but the VCR can record and also has its own aux inputs - camera anyone? I do have spares of both the screen controller and media switcher units, but I'm told the controller can fail and is costly from ford
  23. Now on ebay  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...rksid=p3907.m29
  24. Depends on your definition of pool I guess! Its normal to get SOME oil in the intercooler, its forced out by the turbo but a lot of oil would indicate somethings wrong or its being/been repeatedly stopped with the turbo at speed. If its more of a misting on the inside of the pipework with a little excess at the bottom then I wouldn't worry.
