  1. If you search the forum, you will find it can be done - you dont have to dismantle the radiator (you would need to open the bonnet to do that!) - but it is tricky. Read and find out more. Check the wire hasnt just become detached at the dash end first. Btw you could recharge the battery via one of the power sockets (e.g cigar lighter)
  2. Ah....the universal remedy..... :)
  3. Bye and good luck. All good things must come to an end.... :)
  4. Rather than reclaim tax, get it round to Skoda dealer and get
  5. The mechanism is probably partly seized up. Read FAQ 45, 60, and 68 all about it and what to do.
  6. Make sure that you use vw 505.01 PD compatible oil. Use of lesser oils is what leads to camshaft wear, and sometimes this can be very rapid. Check the oil used by whoever repaired your vehicle.
  7. Possibly seized wiper linkage plus incorrect fuse size causing wiring overload.
  8. ARB links and track rod ends are common problems.
  9. TPS price flyer March/April 5L Quantum platinum 5W-40 full synthetic (505.01 PD suitable) listed at
  10. Have these "recoded" keys ever worked?
  11. I thnk I have this problem......
  12. OP said there was a stripped camlobe, so he will need at least one new unit injector.
  13. Or you have a short in the tailgate rubber gaiter - see FAQ for more.
  14. Usual problems are ABS light - faulty ABS sensor/plug/ring - nb there are 4, one on each wheel AIRBAG light - "clock spring" connection in steering wheel.
  15. Good grief. Oxymoron time again. BTW the postage is going to be a bit more than 25p. If you put off not changing the battery any more you might find youll bugger the alternator as well.
  16. Theyre hardly likely to say anything else. Most people only use dealers during the warranty period. When I asked the 2nd hand dealer down the road why the 2 year old Golf with 9000 miles on the clock had 2 "Hero" tyres on the front - he said "probably had two punctures" - yeah.
  17. Glow plug light should go out within a second in summer, so yes I think you got the wrong sensor.
  18. Thats because the incorrect oil was used (probably Ford formula E or some other cheap oil) Why not just change the cam - you probably need a new unit injector too (the one on the worn lobe)
  19. Your battery is ready for the trip to the dump. BUY A NEW BATTERY. The screech is because the battery is flat and the alternator is struggling to charge it, the load is too great, and the belt is slippling. A new battery will sort the problem. Its not rocket science. :16: Regarding fan problems - See here for one (of a few) example of fan resistor thread
  20. Biggest load of bull....but what do you expect from a Ford dealer? Galaxy mkII diesels will eventually strip their PD camshafts without the correct spec oil.
  21. No, your battery is u/s and that would explain the screech in the morning. Get a new battery.
  22. Not for PD diesels - all diesels in the Mk1 and MkII are VW units. PD Oils are special and VW oils are usually xxw40. AFAIK Formula E is a cheap basic oil which will inevitably chew the camshafts on a PD engine over a couple of years. If it doesnt have spec VW 505.01 (NB not 505.00) or better then it is not suitable!
  23. No pipes inside, just a rubber non return valve - stick your head in and you will see. Check the main vacuum feed pipe to the servo.
  24. No, TDI is electronic - not vacuum. Common problems on TDi is failure of cruise switch (check you havent pushed the slider to the off position), or failure of the brake switch or clutch switch.
