  1. Good for you IF you get it sorted mate, but I understand that no warranty implied or given usually means there was erm... "no warranty implied or given" Was this written on the sale reciept mate? So - you going to tell us what sort of deal you got?
  2. Sorry be the bearer of bad news but you bought bargain basement style. This is how dealers get to buy their cars at such good prices, you pays yer money and use yer knowledge or contacts within the trade to get it fixed... Sorry mate but you have no complaint. If you wanted the benefits of a warranted car you would of course have payed a much higher price.
  3. I disconnected the fuel pump wire to mine when it packed up last winter. I just started the car 10~15 minutes earlier, then I only had to drive for 10 minutes for it to get reasonably warm, though never hot.
  4. Drive to GSF, remove said maf with housing, open front door of GSF, approach counter...
  5. has the air-con compressor seized and caused the belt failure ? Had this on mine. Reach down to the front of the AC compressor. Try to rotate the centrifugal clutch inside the belt pulley. There were clouds of smoke billowing out of the bonnet. The compressor had smoke marks on it too.
  6. Sounds much like my experience, check my thread on it: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...topic=9370&st=0
  7. gorrit fanks - my, what big envelopes you have
  8. Erm... a p p p (cant stop larfin :D ) pipe clip might do the trick? :D :D Is your first name Paris? :D
  9. 40K miles for 17K? ner :D
  10. My sisters Galaxy had this problem after a brake servo was replaced. The switch on the brake pedal had (we think) been damaged during the replacement, or coincidently failed. replacement of the switch sorted it. That was on a y reg 115 tdi manual.
  11. AndeeH - R200... print many DVD's then?
  12. Oscar - you have not said if its a Zetec or Ghia model (with climate control display) I had a dry joint on my last Zetec model, behind the ventilation controls panel. This would be no lights and all switches inoperative in that panel till I went over a bump! Removing the panel and flexing the loom did the trick.
  13. No toys or dummies chucked out mate - just curious why you joined something out of the tech section - given your post activity, if it wern't in any tech post
  14. Top one for me please - Pm-ing you now
  15. We all spend a bit of time here - So lets see where your at :D The Heli on the screen is my brothers - sorry to disapoint anyone :)
  16. Soptom "If you've got now't to do" was the main title, followed by "have some fun" in the sub title, and this was in the... "General Discussion and Nonsense" forum, yes it's underlined too :D How much more of a clue does anyone need that it would be of little interest to people with no interest in a silly bit of nonsense? http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showforum=62 This takes anyone immediately to the technical section so they don't get any distractions :) Now be warned and do not feel mis-led in any way now.... I'm starting another frivolous bit of nonsense in the forum that some of you dis-like... SO DON'T LOOK :D
  17. My philosophy is that the softer rubber ones wear quicker - but are cheaper. Then when we consider a puncture on a fairly new tyre it's better than potentially having to ditch an expensive one.
  18. Done now - thanks guys
  19. In fairness to seatkid, and being an old grump myself :16: , I felt just about the same as him as I became more interested in another (non motoring) forum and the new posts were mostly nothing to do with that forum subject. I even made a comment to that fact and got flamed...big time... it's nowhere near as polite as this one. I now go to the forum section I wish to browse rather than new posts. So if you only wish to check say the new technical posts - go to the technical section and look for the blue lablel that indicates a new post has been made. The new posts since last visit can also have bold font if Glen would like to look into that?
  20. Bless your little cotton socks seatkid, I knew I was skating on thin ice
  21. Fair point you have there seatkid, and if it were a strictly technical question~answer~opinion~gripe, about the merits of the shalaxy type forum I would agree with you entirely mate. And I'm sure that's how and why it first materialised. I have to admit how surprised I am that my 3 word story has interested people for so long. Perhaps it's something of a welcome distraction to what might otherwise be a mundane boring old firts forum (And I am boring and old, and firt frequently too  ) The fact that it's been viewed much more than contributed to does however suggest that many people fing it amusing even though they dont contribute? It may also be a rather silly excuse for someone who may not have a faulty car or other reason to visit this site and browse other topics within it? As for your input - I have found it invaluable, but lacking lately? maybe as a result of your despair about my thread - I dunno mate, even the way you sometimes deliberatly fail to answer a question that should have a blindingly obvious answer to someone who should be able to work it out themselves is a pleasing characteristic of yours. There are many other members that have been just as helpfull, they seem to have mostly gone, be it from changing their cars or career comittments - or possibly left because the threads are getting less technical, perhaps because many of the questions are now covered by stickies?
  22. Wifey's rear drop links are gone - but I'm not mobile enough at the moment to fit them, though I have the new ones in the glove compartment ready to fit. MOT due tomorrow - can I leave them till a later date?
  23. I don't think they refer to the sump - which of course is coverered by the undercover  That seems to suggest the "thingy protruding" from the undercover -_- - but I don't know what it's called mate
  24. So what you mean to say is you nicked the kids skateboard ramps! -_- Yeah - but it works for me :P
  25. This sounds like a bendix problem rather than the motor itself. However I'm also thinking that what was freely available and fixable by mere mortals 30 years ago is no longer available... so a new motor it would be? Any oldies comment on this? B)
