  1. Well we're agreed on that one VR6 !!
  2. Or tank vent blocked ? or an EGR problem. Regards - John
  3. Whilst I agree on most of your points, youre wrong on this one. My Range Rover and two other lpg's vehicles I have driven switch over to lpg immediately hot or cols, no problem. The fuel consumption is not as bad as you say especially if you modify the ignition map (lpg has a much slower flame front, my Range Rover ran 50 deg BTDC whilst on lpg) Caio - JB
  4. See if it will start in Neutral rather than park or moving the selector a little whilst holding the key over in the strat position. Regards - JB
  5. Well the fun and games kicked off, the dealer said what you guys said i.e. only 12 months warranty and
  6. Mmmmm the word bullshit springs to mind. The ECU is constantly adjusting fuelling and therefore will try and adjust parameters to keep it running but will also ammend them when other faults are cleared. I suppose it could go into certain limp home conditions that may need resetting under exceptional circumstances. Glad you got it sorted. Regards - JB
  7. It's a genuine UK one. If I have to purchase one I will take them to court because it's obviously sub standard and I don't see why they should get away with it. I'll keep you posted. Regards - John
  8. How do you start a CFM56 engine ??
  9. Why / how can they refuse ? I feel a court case coming on B) I was on duty last night for L.I.V.E.S. got a call to an RTA at 03:30 this morning, dead battery no start. In the end I threw my gear into my SMART fortwo and went in that. Regards - JB
  10. I know this has been mentioned before, on 3 or 4 occasions recently my Gal has had insufficient power in the battery to turn it over. Jump leads and away she goes no problem. At first I thought it was my fault for leaving my radio on for a couple of hours whilst messing about, this morning however it did it again. Have Ford issued any TSB regarding batteries or should I just nag the dealer to fit a new one ?? Regards - John

  12. Obviously theyre both ageing vehicles soooooo:- 1) Check everything mechanical 2) Service history would be useful (cambelt?) 3) Check all electrics for operation (Windows, Locoking, Lights, Alarm etc) 4) Neither mention aircon, remeber you're driving round in a greenhouse - lots of glass. If aircon id fitted a warranty is a must and it must be working. 5) Make sure the abs light is on when you switch on the ignition, and goes off and stays off afterwards. 6) Check for leaks 7) Make sure the electric cooling fan is not seized 8) Check for signs of abnormal tyre wear. You should be aware the Gal is a big vehicle and the 2.0 is the smallest engine, the performance won't be sparkling, the fuel consumption won't be good either. Hope this helps, I'm sure some of the others will have lots to say. Regards - John
  13. It's a good job we don't take offence here  one day we must meet up, I'll buy you a drink (I know you can't afford to buy your own running a V6) as a reward for being a sparring partner. TTFN - JB
  14. Get the V6, it's brilliant, you'll never want for anything more (even if you did you wouldn't be able to afford it being a V6 driver), 0-60 in 5 seconds or less, unlimited top speed, corners so well you burst blood vessels and as for it's ability to smoke tyres there's none better. The depreciation from new could only be topped by a house brick in freefall. Forget the TDi's theyre cr*p, hold there price well, uses so little fuel that if it improved just a little more it would be filling it's own tank up as you drove along, it can just smoke the tyres if you try hard and of course that good old 0-60 time is going to take a couple of seconds longer and that really is the BIG DEAL. Regards - JB :)
  15. ALL diesels were like that in the past, the new ones are a totally different animal. My LWB Transit has now done 110,000 in 2 years, drives like new, starts first turn and is quiet, reliable and doesn't use a drop of oil between changes. The Duratorq engine is brilliant.
  16. You need to change the wiper switch as well to have the trip computer functions on it. Regards - JB
  17. This topic has come up before, statements were made that the Galaxy is over-servoed and this is normal !. It doesnt sound right to me and mine doesn't do it, If the pedal goes down slowly all the way it would point to a fluid leak or master cylinder seals failed. Air in the system would give a spongy feel to the brakes as the air bubbles compress. Regards - JB
  18. I have a facelift 115 Tdi, I fitted a Towsure bracket and later the removeable towball kit. Neither requires the bumper cutting at all. For the electrics there's a nice feed cable right at the front of the fusebox near the drivers right knee, simple job to run the feed internally to the back by pushing it under the door sill capings. The whole job including electrics took about 3 hours, the hardest bit was taking the covers off under the rearlights. Regards - John
  19. There we go, can't be right all the time, i bow to vr6's greater knowledge of vehicles with too many cylinders  Cheers Mate - JB
  20. Under the front passenger seat apparently. Mines a diesel and I don't think ones fitted to that. Regards - John
  21. That sounds more like fuel pump / anti theft than anything else, the inertia switch isn't tripped is it ? Regards - JB
  22. If you want to pay sensible money go to your nearest tractor dealer i.e. Massey Ferguson, they usually have all of the gear and a very clued up techie and will check and recharge cheaper than anyone else. Next best is local aircon specialist or Halfrauds, finally if you wish to blow shedloads of money goto a Ford/VW/Seat dealer. Regards - JB
  23. Coat the back of the pad and both sides of the anti squeal shim(if fitted ????) with copper based grease (coppaslip). That should give a complete cure. Regards - John
  24. If you were partially sighted or sufferred glaucoma you would appreciate from a pedestrian point of view just how good daytime running lights are. If it's lit up it's moving or about to move. I spent a little time working in Sweden a few years ago and whilst at first it looked odd sfter a while it seemed very helpful even with 20/20 vision. I for one would vote in favour of it. Regards - John
