S'all right I have been mentally scarred by changing the clutch on a hillman superminx - lying on a sloping drive with melting slush running down my neck with the gearbox laid on my chest whilst trying to get some bolts back in - twice - now that must date me :angry: ;) :D

Yep gets it from the Transmission fluid temperature sensor (TFT) dtc 00300 - still no closer to te location though :angry:

vag-com must get the temperature from somewhere :angry:

Has the car ever been a Fleet or rental vehicle, it is possible to turn off the ability to program a spare key in the PCM module Looks like a trip to fords or maybe someone with vag-com (if te ability has been disabled)

has it ever worked, I am assuming that it opens doors and turns in the ignition, could you have possibly lost the pats chip from the key (do these even come apart) incidentally I assume its a black key. If te procedure doesn't work I suspect its off to fords for tem to program it with their wds 2000 system, I would have a couple of goes though. I don't know if there is any indication that its gone into programming mode ?

sorry I am confused - mk2 (from your sig) have radio not Ird remotes, they don't have 'master' keys either - unless its a completely new breed of car. If you have three radio remotes you have to program all three at one go the procedure above in the thread is to program the key so it starts the car (pats system) not for remote operation - for that you need the link in the second or third post in the thread

looks ok so far - like the tabs - reminds me of opera which I use on my pda

It overides the safety feature which stops trapped fingers etc - global closing will force the windows shut, I think even if it appears 'cured' I would lube the window since it appears marginal
