Spare Wheel Winch
NikpV replied to Danny Barratt's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Ah - I remember it was modified but not how, TBH provided you keep the wire under tension when winding up or down very few seem to get problems, even the RAC guy who changed a tyre for us in the lake district (on a nasty slope  ) knew that he had to keep the tension -
nothing too serious then  ^_^

Spare Wheel Winch
NikpV replied to Danny Barratt's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
IIRC there is a modified version which is cheaper than the original now available - a search should turn up the relevant posts or indeed looking in the faq :D :) :D new cheaper winch memo to self - look in faq :D :D :) -
sounds good - how much was it ?
-
possibly they used oil from the big drum (as admitted by local ford dealer - my gal uses Formula sd - and I get the spare 0.5 l in the container to make sure) only method I can think of is to change it yourself, without knowing what oil a focus diesel needs - something too viscous when cold will cat things better but move around the engine slower - take longer to reach all the bits needed
-
probably already sorted then   :(
-
did they put the correct viscosity oil in ??

Electric Window Problems.
NikpV replied to westie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have a simliar problem with one window, so I'm pretty sure that global closing/opening uses a different wire than normal window switches, one of my rear windows will open/close using the internak switches and will open with global opening but will not close with global closing unless I fiddle with the loom boot to that door - check the door boot loom for broken wires - in your case check the drivers door - see the faq for procedure to remove/install the rubber boot *click on the link in my sig -
sorry - only thing I remember about the rear shocks is to torque them up with the wheels on the ground :D

s'ok - I really didn't mean anything ;) No that the message I got from the board when trying to reply - don't think we have any history - I haven't looged on other than nikvenn or nikpv since 2003 :D
-
thanks for the pm - can't reply - either your inbox is full or you ar blocking the reply ^_^
-
Have you got red/blue, blue and 2 browns, if so I think that the red/blue is 12v supply, the browns earth ans the blue signal - if it helps
-
sounds like the replacement is duff/wrong model or there is damage to its wiring
-
he wasn't - it was a gentle prod to read the title with a proviso that it was correct because you can't change the title so if the date had changed the title would have been wrong (just covering my A...), I can imagine that fredt/vr6's reply would be a full blown sarcastic reply along the lines of ..... well best left unsaid
-
what that suposse too mean a! here we go again can we all get off our peddle stools please...... aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh no offense meant galaxy99 I was pointing out that if they read the title that the info was already there ;) meaning ?????
-
assuming the title is not misleading - 28th october ^_^
-
yes wood73 - used an engine from a Golf his galaxy was a 1996 galaxy glx 2.8v6 see posts here
-
I thought the later gals used a vw vr6 engine - without knowing any of the car details it would be difficult to help ^_^
-
on the gal this is typical of an immobiliser problem if you have a spare key - take it with you and try it - will not help if its an immobiliser circuit problem but might if its key/chip related ^_^

Brake Warning Lights And Eratic Tacho 1.9tdi
NikpV replied to Trig's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
wonder whether the either the voltage regulator for the clocks (if gals have one - or maybe a capacitor in regulator circuit) is starting to go u/s or if it doesn't have one and is purely ecu driven whether resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery for an hour would help sort it - (if you try this make sure you have your radio code though) -
you sure - suppose I can turn them off then  :)  seriously - I reckon some don't know they are on - R reg escort the view of the fog light switch is blocked by the steering wheel (push to turn on and push to turn off) and just in the rifgt position to be caught by my knee when getting in/out. Can knock the switch when the lights are off (indicator on switch stays off) but wgen you put the lights on (for me in the early morning (6.30)) and on come the fogs - its not dark enough to see the lights in the rear view mirror

many fewer active members though :)

I can see BJ's and SK's points although I don't think their conclusions are foregone there is room for both the virtual and the real here. BTW I keep trying to get to one of these meets aaginst the tide of total disinterest and family commitment take the reading meet for example - galaxy99 named a time and place I start manoevering things so I can get there and the next thing its moved to a time I can't make :)
