  1. cheers mattjr that was one of my options unfortunately its now been on 3-4 days for ythe last 3 weeks and the equivalent d-link one is only available in the us atm - perhaps I'll ask 3.5 to pick one up   - Ive picked up a d-link ap from ebay - if it doesn't work as a bridge (which it should) I'll put it back on ebay
  2. it should unlock after a delay about 30secs IIRC, if you open the passenger door you should be able to open the tailgate straight away, this would confirm its just the switch
  3. or if you have the tail length - crimp and heat shrink (ratchet crimper) I think it gives more mechanical strength
  4. foci - many focus 'es (plural) = english   :D
  5. If it was just the speedo I would suggest a faulty speed sensor (on gearbox IIRC). With the other problems may be the instrument cluster :( We had a similar problem with the fuel gauge - Ford tried changing the cluster twice before deciding that there was a problem with the design, one set of clocks had us travelling at 70mph across the forecourt :( eventually they sorted out the design and we got a new instrument cluster a year out iof warranty (with a little threatening + support of garage). The abs light is usually a speed sensor ring on the front wheels (rusts and falls off - becomes detached) of the sebnsor itself. Hi Tony, You need a new instrument cluster mate, it has an internal fault, though you will still have to go to a dealer for it to be programmed into the gal. Depending on when your gal was built you may still get warranty (or maybe a good will contribution from Fords, if it's not too far out of warranty and has been serviced at the correct times etc, etc, etc). I know this because I am a Ford master technician , can I also say to all the members on here please don't tar every one with the same brush, I can understand that some dealers may be s**t but others are extremey good. The same goes for technicians in dealers, there only human you know, some are better than others and believe me galaxys arn't the easiest vehicle to diagnose and work on. Sorry Tony if it seems I'm going on at you here (I'm not) just had a hard day today then came on here reading the latest posts and Ford dealers are getting it again. Mark Bloody hell - it was with the support of another ford master technician that got our cluster changed a year out of warranty due to design problems welcome Mark. I know you're not all the same - in fact I've got a link to a recommended dealer on the site somewhere due to how helpful they were. You could be very busy here :D :D
  6. interesting - same model one year earlier
  7. they do fit although IIRC there was some modification of the seat squabs to allow slightly easier folding without damaging the fabric on the lever mechanisms, we've got a single mk1 seat in our mk2 - the seat mechanisms appear identical (at least functionally)
  8. Right - for all you network gurus  Currently I have a wireless network at home internet ->smc barricade->d-link wireless access point (dwl2000) -> 2 laptops and pci wireless card in desktop. I also have a hp laserjet4 printer - parallel connection + linksys print server (wired) efsp42 (with 4 port switch) can I buy another Wireless access point (as a bridge~) and connect the print server to it so I can locate the printer elsewhere. I know I can get a wireless print server but for parallel printers they are in limited supply and tend to be expensive (relatively)
  9. I think SOP is .... when lost - Phone Neil - He posts here telling us all - follows up with post telling us not to mention getting lost when she arrives later ..... much later  :D
  10. now I think about it, it was a 36mm hex socket. but haven't you just unbolted the engine from the filter
  11. how many has she got ??????
  12. certainly for the AG4 gearbox, get the oil up to running temp ..... before topping up
  13. ow - please don't shout
  14. Glad you enjoyed yourself - I suggested that we go but had to go in the opposite direction to pick up the eldest and I was vetoed when I suggested we leave her with her sleepover friends :D - sleepovers at 6years old  :D
  15. fuel from the non firing cylinders combusting in the cat?????????
  16. I can confirm the 1Z engine is the predecessor to the AHU and is made by VW. Its the same engine updates to comply with Euro III (1Z was Euro II) and has different fuel injector pump, turbo etc etc. All Shalaxy Mk 1 and Mk2 engines are VAG units. cheers sk
  17. with engine running either the drivers door/passenger door open = no delay if there is a delay then dorr switch probably u/s - try each door seperately
  18. why do you need a complete wire loom if you don't mind me asking?
  19. certainly the ahu - from 16/09/96 and after are but what about the Diesel engine 90 PS:1Z (built to 15.09.96) unit ? can't find any reference that this is vw at all ??
  20. I thought that the earlier 90bhp diesels were ford lumps ??
  21. easier but not absolutely required
  22. you have more than one ??????????? poor bloke, I assume the others are cheaper or less dear to you  :16:
