  1. cheers is the new Ford one made by beru
  2. Interesting - replaced the glowplug last year with upgraded type (couldn't get from Fords at that time, went through a company in midlands somewhere who got them direct from BERU looked just like the original as pictured here anybody got a picture of the 'Ford' upgraded one as it turns out my problem was a loose connection (live and earth are on the same connector) so the plug pictured above is a working one
  3. must be clutching at straws .... (can't remember if we've already had this yet and would hate to cause friction)
  4. G 052 162 A2 (for 1l) is what it says in elsawin for a 01 Sharan 1.9tdi auto (it only lists one automatic gearbox) G 052 161 A1 is for 0.5l

  7. under the nearside of the car in frot of rear wheel - 45min change on the drive for glowplug, no draining down needed - click on the faq link in my signature and look for the procedure in the list

  10. my ears are bleeding - please stop shouting both of you - I always thought the caps/shouting Idea was stupid but after 16 years it really starts to HURT  :19:
  11. go on then - but only one and make it your last for today  :19:
  12. GEM will sense the current passed through the motor (similar to window motors) and cut it off for a couple of seconds if it gets too high (too much mechanical resistance->slower->less back emf->largert current-> threatens motor windings) so if it had got to the stage where the motor windings had burnt out I would regrease the entire linkage - probably with a boog standard lithium grease (no doubt a purist will immediately suggest a different type molybdenum maybe  :19: )
  13. :D :16:
  14. as I said you did fine :D
  15. having kept an eye on that thread I think that Mumof4 had it in hand and with the exception of some language 'issues' did not get out of hand, I think that she could have closed the thread and the regular posters here would have supported her. It had started to stagnate when glen closed it. With the exception of one or two callow ill thought out posts I can see no discredit becoming attached to the forum.
  16. IIRC you have to disconnect the battery and leaver for at least half an hour before touching the air bag
  17. reckon so - could try another battery - make sure its the correct way aroud :D
  18. :D :D :16:
  19. Is this an IrD remote (do you have two domes - one by rear view mirror and one at the back). Don't know much about IrD but if its the radio remote - lack of red led when pressed would indicate a fault. Again with the radio remote - you only need the remote key to program it - you need 2 keys to program the PATS (yours both start the car so you don't need this)
  20. yes will have some (1 or 2) IrD leds in which given the mechanical wear a key gets can loosen the soldered joint - as a check you are sure that is the Ird system (2 domes inthe car front and back)
  21. anonymity coul;d be useful but since your username is in red you wont remain that way for long - back to cloaking eh  ;) ;)
