yes they are fine for situations where you need a snapshot - for the record - but in portrait work the ability to use a small depth of field to isolate the features and leave the background with a pleasant blur (bokeh) or in macro - 1 to 1 repoduction + more dedicated equipment is needed (the list of special circumstances is endless)
air con - about 50% chance, umm driveshafts - seem to have beens a spate (of 3 recently) but up to now its not been a common post on here  - well up til now  ;) that'll start them off .

for distortion free light gathering ability the glass/lens used in phone camera cannot compete with most normal nikon lenses - and while we are at it the size of the sensor in the phone camera will make it much 'noisey' in low light situations - without even considering the merits of the autofocus. - if indeed the phone is actually autofocus and not just a fixed focus small aperture (giving huge dof)
oh b*m I was hoping you'd be able to tell us  checking elsawin - various models used D3W, D5W -Z, D5W-S, B5W-S, D4W change over date about 06/00
Thanks for the info it seems that the unit itself has a bit more 'intelligense' than a fan heater  here is a link to the post about the temp sensor (with diagrams) - it appears that this fault doesn't stop the heater either - if fault it is link to over temp fault post
You are welcome I'm sure :D Worth putting your car details in your signature, it may help someone else e.g. re: age - nuts are difficult to remove, it may also help others to help you if you ask a question
welcome to the forum - :D it is a pd engine - does it sound rough all the time? is the lack of power across the range, on the flat ? up hills best give folk some clues - how many miles has it done? auto/manual ? unfortunately I can't afford a vag-com so can't help you with that bit probably worth putting your vehicle details in your signature for future reference
are these 'hot wire type' or the 'thick film type' from what I understand hot wire get dirty and can be cleaned carefully but the thick film type deteriorate over time. MAF problems are notoriously difficult to detect byt reading fault codes unless its a complete failure :D
