  1. but isnt the actual locking/latching mechanism a mechanical operation? in this case I would favour checking the condtion of the latch and the striker plate? then move onto the electrical control items, if these misalign the door will shut but will not allow the latch to locate correctly and clamp the striker pin, we had a simillar problem with the rear hatch! it would shut, but not switch off the interior light and would rattle and open slightly if you pushed it from inside! good point - wonder if the blustery winds at the time streesed the door enough the locking mechanism - its a big area to be hit by the wind ?
  2. absolutely hilarious - why can't the rest of you budding comedians match this :D  :16:

  12. as Matt_jr says provided there is no sign of abuse you need to invoke the waranty, for a small fee the guy you have looking at the machine may well give you a written statement that there is no sign of abuse (if thats true) - you should have at least a years warranty. DO NOT get distracted by this talk of the label, any waranty its absense may void is only extra warranty and does not affect you statutory rights under the sale of goods act SOGA. Initially your waranty is with tesco - the sale was through them - be polite but firm (you said you have the receipt) it is up to them to sort it out. Research the SOGA online if you don't believe me.

  16. can't see how this would affect anything specially if the hard drive is starting to fail(quite a reasonable cause of your problem) on such a new machine even if you have no documentation acer should be able to match a key to thir s/n for the machine. If you have the receipt for tesco I can't see them fobbing you off unless you mentioned the sticky - there are many people who would not understand its significance (if it has one-will depend on other factors)
  17. how old was this lappy?

  19. - not sure what this means. I had a 1.9TDi before so maybe I am not used to petrol engine noises :) I dont really want to go out and buy another key so what happens if I lose one and get down to one key? My wife will need a key as well but presumably the car will be immobilised :) when we got ours we only had 2 keys so we had another cut (standard key at the same time as another remote) cost 26 from ford - reckoned it would save quite a bit if we had to get then to program another key which you do if you are down to one. Since we have 3 kids under 7 its useful to be able to unlock the car whilst carrying child + shopping + holding anothers hand so we bit the bullet over the cost. Apparently ford will charge 60-80 to code a key if you are down to one + cost of the key, when we had ours done the parts guy came out and did ours (+ remote key) for free.
  20. :) thanks - mine do too trouble is it takes too long to long to load on my pda(have to have sigs turned off) - will have to get rid in a couple of weeks
  21. you feel sick !!! we only just qualify fpr the higher amount - registered a couple of months earlier and we wouldn't :)
  22. have a look in your handbook IIRC it was late 2004 but I'm sure some one will correct me, I've got a feeling tim_spam posted something with the part numbers on but can't find it atm :)
  23. wish you'd tell ford and the chancellor that :) - autos give off more CO2/km because they burn more fuel/km - we did have the link to to carbon car tax page but can't find it :) wish you'd tell ford and the chancellor that :) - autos give off more CO2/km because they burn more fuel/km - we did have the link to to carbon car tax page but can't find it  [*]Vehicle Excise Duty for 12 months for: [*]FORD Galaxy 1.9 PD TDi (115PS) [*]is
  24. Our book says every 40k IIRC the inteval was reduced for late mk1 and early mk2 but it was extended again for later mk2's - something about better parts being used - new part numbers- apparently if you have the newer specced part fitted you can extend to 60k again. In your case I would treat it if you can afford it - but I wouldn't lose any sleep about it for another year :)
  25. thanks for the picture - and confirmation that symptoms are now absent, how was the sensor fitted in ?? did it just pull out?
