  1. intermittent problems with brake switch ?
  2. it would have been more appropriate to link this long copied section (whilst it is in the public domain is it still ok to be copied wholesale ?? I didnt think it was the same thing as copyright free) since its already hosted somewhere I am sure glen doesnt want to host it again.
  3. hope you had a good'un
  4. bottom row of the computer display tells you anyway - maybe version specific though
  5. wonder if the problem(whatever it is) is causing the ice sensor to turn off the air con after it has run for a while - umm
  6. looks like you have 2 separate problems here intermitent problems with the immobiliser should not affect the key openning ang closing the car. The battery in the fob has NO effect on the immobiliser problem. Have you tried reprogramming the key try this procedure Do you have a second key - if so try using the second key to start the car when the remote key wont.
  7. I don't like the sudden deterioration either - not sure what sparked it off though ;)
  8. underpowered - maf needing renewal intermittent problems with injector wiring ?? have a look in the faq for links to both of these .. welcome to the madhouse btw

  17. wish I had, the only delays were on the 303 - although on the way we did stop at old sarum for a walk and had lunch further on at 'alfreds tower' both close to the A3 temptation ...... great week though - weather was glorious but I'm exhausted. was pleased with the way the Gal handled the hills I don't think the autobox has ever had so much manual shifting to from D ;)
  18. just had a quote from Gladwyns for amost identical damage - they were repairing a dent where a woman had reversed into the drivers door so had the paint mixing to do anyway, they quoted
  19. sounds like its going into limp home mode (based on our experiences of the mk1 & mk 2 ) would be very surprised if it does not log a fault for such a drastic measure - ummm wonder if the mk3 has the drive by wire brake switch like the others - may be worth checking you brake lights are working th next time the problem happens. If any of you mk3 owners get these prioblems sorted out then please post solutions here as most of the current experience is with the mk1 & mk2 - if enough infois posted we can start a subsection for the mk3 gal :P (even if mumof4 doesnt like the shape) :P
  20. would definitely go for the alhambra or look at a Sharan over a new Mk3 or smax - we were undecided but having just taken the 3 monsters and the gremlin (MIL) on holiday in devon the flexibility afforded by having 2 seats in the 2nd and 3rd rows leaving a gap behind the passenger seat was brilliant. Still had room for buggy and rucksacks and picnic box etc. The child/toddler/adult seats makes a huge difference to us (kids 7 5 and 2 ish), we have 3 of these seats which can all fit in the second row or 3rd row :P :P
  21. wonder if you have a turbo vane problem - especially in the warm weather switching off and on will reset the limp home mode - have a look in the external links post at the top of tchnical IIRC there is something there on this problem ahh here the reference

very nice - BTW why have you got mk1 alloys on it ??
  23. I think that this thread would be more worthy of inclusion in the faq if it had more informatioon e.g. spec sheet etc If you think it should go in the faq plase post below and I will do it  ;)
  24. yes - I have some folded / rolled up DPC stopping mine from doing it - almost invisible
