  1. I have the same issue as above where the key flashes five times and not the LED in the door. Mine is a 1997 2.8V6 Galaxy. Any ideas? I know that I need a new key as I have lost the transponder chip when I changed the batteries, but this should not have an affect on the remote cntral locking should it? the key fob will always flash at this point even if the key is nowhaere newar a car - I did this whilst at work once and so had to reprogram the key - the lack of response from the car usually means that the key is is not working correctly (or that the cars GEM system is not working right - more likely the key from experience on here) the key should would to unlock the doors even without the PATS chip if it was working ok
  2. really haven't a clue -
  3. do you have the little domes near the rear view mirror and tailgate - if so then its an infra red (IrD) based system and you will need that read key (handle is red if its anything like my R reg escort key). If you have the radio version you probably have the updated 2 keys to program any more (you cant cheat and use one key twice GREGERS :16: :16: its wise to that :D ) Sounds like you need to get your car to the dealer  although an auto locksmith may be able to help although they have been very few details on here where they can sort out this type of problem :16: . This could be expensive - lets say
  4. well your memory is almost there Gregers - it was GSMguy (sells/fits kitchens in the manchester area) as seen here He now has a volvo xc90 IIRC so doesnt pop up very often (last seen july) but his webpage is still valid http://www.kitchendream.co.uk/ so I expect his email link from his profile will probably work ok GSMGuy profile See gregers what a real memory does for you  :D :16: although it doesnt answer the OP's question
  5. Thanks Guess I will have to trace my steps backwards now. Pulled key apart and I can see where the chip should sit, but you where right its not there. If I can't find it what options do I have? I have an Auto electricain booked for Wednesday but would prefer to fix it myself and save some money. Thanks for the help. will depend on the version of the system you have - IIRC it changed in 1997 from the 'red security key required to program new keys' top the 2 working keys needed to program a third. If you have the first system and the red key you can probablty sort it for

  14. service at 10k miles inteval or at yearly intervals. Have you got extra fixings in the floor in the middle row - apparently some 6 seaters had them - if so you just need the center seat with the lapbelt
  15. doesnt sound like immobiliser then, it should flash with some sort of pattern to indicate an error (cant remember the pattern though). Any power/lights ? another key ?
  16. probably with a manual but with the auto we've only managed about 49mpg once (20 mile journey)
  17. try another key, what is the led on the door doing when you try and start it - have you got power and do you hear any clicking when trying to start it ??
