so is this the Itis/classic fM TMc or the capital radio, GWR and Chrysalis one (with RAC) (I dont use either of the systems), can a unit use either or both systems ?
Oh yes main dealer can do it using the wds system - vag-com can do it but you need several detailed bits of information from the dealer. They seem to want to charge an hours labour --
as MUMof4 stated you need 2 keys to program a third (and up to 8) keys to the PATS module, on earlier cars a red security key was all that was needed. You only need a single key to program the remote loacking i.e. the key you are progarmming although up to a maximum of 4 per vehicle are permitted by the GEM system (PATS = Passive anti theft - needed to get the car to run GEM = General(or Generic IIRC elecrtonic module) - needed to operate the remote central locking)
dont think that the 2.3 suffers as much with maf problems as TDI's do, if its a problem when the engine is hot I would start looking at temperature sensors (not the same one as the gauge though there are 2 IIRC, does the 2.3 have a TMAP sensor (Temperature and manifold Pressure ) ??
in that case I reckon SK is correct IIRC the diesel variant will start and die and not run if the PATS chip is missing IIRC petrol variants wont start at all
i think you are going to have to give folks an idea of what car/year/petrol/diesel etc does the led on the drivers door do - maybe its an immobiliser problem
thick-film sensors sometimes degrade over time they don't always fail if you search here you will find a thread with acceleration and speed timings ... oh btw it still has no performance problems 30k later be careful of making generalisations B)
typical - took my key apart thinking I could get a picture of the numbers but on mine the printing is beige .. best I can do and yes the pats chips is the same in each
