  1. hmmm I think I will have a look at my mk2 and see if the designs the same - and follow suit ;)
  2. you could probably do with increasing the memory to 512Mb since you always have so many windows/ threads/processes going on at the same time
  3. For distances less than 500 light years we can use a parallax method, eg angle measured to stellar object against the backgroud of more distant stars from either side of the earths orbit try this for the principle - Hold your right forefinger out an arm's length in front of you; keep it in that position. Close your left eye and look at your finger against a distant background. Now open your left eye but close your right and look at your finger. The finger appears to jump to the right. That's parallax. If we know the distance between your two eyes and the angle between the two lines of sight to your finger, we can calculate the distance to your finger. there you go then. This might not be the method used to find its size. The size of a star and its place in its life cycle determin how hot the star is, and so by looking at its spectra we can see how far along its life cycle it is and it will also tell us its temperature - we can then look it up on a hertzsprung - russel diagram. Incidentally looking at at how far its spectral lines are shifted from the expected position (eg. known lines of hydrogen) we can tell its relative speed to us. (Stand on pavement and listen to how the tone of a siren on a police car changes as it approaches and recedes.) oops forgot to say - larger stars are more blue/hotter ;) thanx mo4
  4. ok that wasnt even a high spec 4 years ago :D I wish my laptop's had that spec - I'm not allowed my desktop in the lounge anymore - It doesn't match the decor :D  ;) :o

  8. I think the Central Junction Box is located above the fuses under the drivers dash. To get to the relays you have to remove a couple of screws and swing down the top level on a hinge.
  9. have a look here seems poster had clutch on all the time - some possible diagnostics and his solution was to replace pressure switch faulty pressure switch ps maybe useful to tell us your vehicle details - year/engine/trim etc - see my signature - ahh cheers

  11. so thats greasing 4 door hinges - 23 left  Do you think I'm feeling cynical here ;) I think I would need to know what they were going to do first :o
  12. does it say what it covers ?
  13. there is a flap in the wheel arch to access both the sidelight and indicator bulb (top IIRC). Its usually caked with crud. Its made of plastic and if it wont slide I usually push it firmly in the center- it bends and comes out of the slides at the edge. Pull it out completely clean it up and replace by inserting one side first - start at the top get the top on the other side in and slide up - it should now slide back down again. Now you can change the bulbs - bit tight - I used some long needle nosed pliers in the end (sidelight)
  14. without promising any answers it would be helpful if you could post your vehicle details - click on the link in my Signature
  15. glad its all sorted - sleep time now  ;) :o

  20. environmental health has a 24hr on call person who we called was prepared on the following day to get a court order to enter and 'abate the nuisance' but the battery ran down about 6 am that morning and so we put a note through the door and the new neighbours took a hammer to the alarm system because the company wanted
  21. of course it may not be a time problem - it may have been removed by ebay for copyright infringement
  22. don't you just like intermittent problems
