Definitely dealer liability here...and I wouldn't accept a ford Ka(k) as the courtesy car whilst they've got your Galaxy. Only a top of the range Galaxy or Mondeo will suffice, supplied with a full tank of fuel by a grovelling senior manager at the dealership. My Galaxy has the multifunction steering wheel and all of the audio controls are on the steering wheel itself - ie they go round with it. Maybe there is a version available for vehicles without the multifunction wheel? Ford 5000 head units come in a variety of guises. You will notice if you compare your wife's Focus and your Galaxy that the front of the stereo in the Focus is curved in profile and the one in the Galaxy is flat. If you go to the trouble of extracting them from the dashboards, you will notice that the bodies of the units are different sizes as well, so I suspect that the units are not actually the same stereo at all - they just look like it! Hence the connector may not be the same...(and is probably a VW one??) Perhaps Alarm Man will wander in and offer some info...

I got a new Ghia alloy (to replace my steel spare) and a pair of new wiper blades (Bosch bendy ones) on eBay for 65 quid the lot including delivery. A good deal I think!

I read an interesting post on Honest John's website regarding Ford Direct. Basically, it is alleged that when the Ford dealer enters a search code on the computer for Ford Direct, part of the code is the percentage margin he requires to sell you a car. If a particular car isn't available with the required margin, it won't show up in the search. That's why you don't see the same selection of vehicles available on the dealer's computer as you do when you visit the Ford Direct website yourself. Can this be true??? (I am inclined to think it is, given that the item was posted by one of the HJ website moderators...)

Don't forget the aircon works better the higher the outside temperature is. If it's only 18C outside (or lower as per current October-in-July weather), don't expect the inside to get to 18C or "Low" (whatever that tries to do) with much efficiency. If it's 35C outside, there is a much larger potential temperature differential and the inside temperature will drop at a faster rate. The inside of your Shalaxy will feel icy cold, despite still being probably 20C or higher, hence the "faint when the heat hits you" effect when you get out of an air conditioned car in warmer climes.

On the multifunction steering wheel (like mine), there are On and Off toggles on the side of the steering wheel, with Res(ume)/+ and Set(-) buttons and a Can(cel) button on the centre, under the horn button.
