Or, to get the multifunction steering wheel (and metallic as standard), for less than the lowest UK price for a standard spec, get an imported one... :D

What Oil For A 115bhp Diesel?
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Don't get it from a vW dealer, as they will charge you -
Yes, but have you read the Ford one ???? I sometimes wonder if they're referring to the same vehicle - did Ford translate it directly from Portugese?

For easy VIN decoding, just visit this website: www.autobaza.pl Works for ALL makes and models. -
In answer to your question: a) Don't bother until your warranty has expired, or you will have no warranty. Allegedly, it's an expensive trick, therefore don't bother at all. Many threads on this....they should answer your question. Besides, isn't it fast enough anyway?

As far as I'm aware, there are two service regimes, 1) 10,000 mile intervals/12 months 2) Extended intervals, as indicated by the service indicator. I believe VW/Seat/Ford all use 10,000 mile interval version in the UK don't they? Most VWs/Audis have the service indicator, but VAG don't actually seem to use it for service intervals in the UK. (as indicated by several colleagues who drive VAG vehicles). Ford certainly don't for Galaxy.

A little off-topic Siroccoman, but - nice spec....how much did that lot cost you? -
Ahhhh yes.... "She" forgets that it's MY car.....except when it needs washing/mucking out etc...

OK, She who must Be Obeyed has called mine GERTIE. (Mind you, her Vectra is called Vicky, or is it Victor???) What do you call yours? (She made me ask this question, so don't all shout at once!)

What Would My Gal Want For Xmas?
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Gertie Galaxy is having a well-earned rest for Christmas....although she might not like the surroundings of the airport car park she will be relaxing in for three weeks, while we sod orf to Vancouver! (Perhaps Vicky Vectra should do the airport run instead...) Gertie's done 14000 miles in 3 and a half months, so deserves a break! Having noticed the front tread wear indicators rapidly approaching the surface, I think she may well be getting a gift of two new tyres when we get back.... -
I've noticed on a few Gals that the radio code is on a Ford sticker inside the tailgate closing handle on the bottom of the door. Have you had a look to see if it's there....?

Martin, Just to inject a dose of the sarcasm that me and a few others are notable for... Did you get them to fit parking sensors at the same time ?? B) Sounds like you need 'em...

IMHO they have a lot more street cred than many other cars out there... not sure where Clarkson has it on the "Cool" board though... now where's my zimmer???
-
Used to have that problem in my original Gal. A long handled largish flat screwdricer will also do the job, if a suitable Torx isn't handy. Once they've gone wobbly, they keep doing it tho.

If it's got Multifunction steering wheel, it's odds-on that it's an import (like mine), as that's standard spec on the continent on Ghias. Extra

Shells Diesel Plus gives the same perfromance as......virtually everything else! I've done about 10 tank fulls so far....not noticed any difference. Only diesel I've found to give poor performance is Morrissons supermarket diesel.

...and it only works if the "9 volt battery" connector at the top is actually connected - unbelievable the amount I've seen that aren't! It's not a particularly new idea - my 1989 Orion used the rear screen heater element as the aerial.

Is it an import? UK seems to be just about the only European market that fits as standard.

Wants A Service - But This Soon?
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yup, looks like I did say that SA! Glad to see you agree with me now then!! For "go better", i could have been referring to the cosmetic appeal :) /me removes tongue from cheek. -
Might look more plasticky, but they're better, honest!!! I've got a 53 now and had a P-reg previously.

Wants A Service - But This Soon?
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
"(And quite how Iain believes the Ford goes better than the others with identical powertrains is beyond me)." Where did I say that SA ???? "There is no early service, and the vehicle is not a Ford anyway." I didn't say anything to contradict those things in the thread above. I was simply relating to the way Ford used to have 1000 mile services in their service schedule. -
Wants A Service - But This Soon?
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The service indicator comes up very early (3000 miles) on new ones. Mine did the same thing. The handbook tells you how to reset it (for that reason). Press and hold the tripmeter reset on the rev counter and turn the ignition key on I think. Remember only 5-6 years ago when Fords had a 1000 mile first service in the book, so they could check they'd assembled the car properly??? Ford service interval for them is 10,000 miles. That's what the warranty requires. (Mine's Oct 53 reg and has already had 10,000 mile service!!!!!!!) Do check your oil level though - you WILL use the best part of a litre or more before you get to 10,000 miles! -

Try changing the plugs on a 2.8V6... On second thoughts....DON'T !!!! -
Yup, That's definitely Neptune Green. Like I said in my earlier post above, Spruce Green is one of the four shades of silver!!
