I got 17000 out of my front 2020s, probably had 1000 miles left in 'em down to the TWI. Rears look like they've got another 30,000 miles left in them. Ooh Deja Vu...didn't I type this in another thread... Should I have but my rears on the front?????

I'm not even going to try and guess what my Gal will be worth at 3yrs/150,000 miles.....

115 Tdi 6-speed Gearbox Problems
iainkirk replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
SA, mine's in for 20k in a couple of weeks - let me know how you get on with the 1-2 cold change.... -
That might have worked in the '70s, but certainly won't in these claim-hungry days we are now in! Just consider what happened in the US a few years ago with the tyres on the Ford Exploder... That cost 'em a fortune. Good luck with your efforts, however I doubt you will have much luck with the Consumers' Association, who are after all a private company. Try your local Trading Standards office instead, but don't all vehicles have blind spots? Not a recall issue if you ask me. I would note that I am being Devils' advocate here, so don't have a go at me... The accident happened in wet and dirty conditions - were you driving at a speed suitable for the wet and dirty conditions? Were there signs warning of deer? Were you looking where you were going? I had a Mk1 Galaxy and never had any problems with visibility.

Personally I prefer the fake MaxPower sticker on the back window, you know, the one that says TaxDodger. Or, for the Novadrivers, SoapDodger...

Dent In Driver's Door Armrest
iainkirk replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Being in a flippant mood (could be that bottle of Chenin Blanc I just quaffed), why not go to a Fraud dealer (sic) and tell them the arm rest is not fit for purpose???? -
By re-inforced, I meant re-inforced side wall, as most of you will undoubtedly realise.

There seems to be a significant price jump between 15 inch tyres and 16 inch tyres. My price for Dunlop 2020 tyres was for 16 inch. I've seen Galaxies running around on un-reinforced tyres too - can't be a good idea - that would count as "modified" on your insurance and invalidate it I should think.

I think I've discovered why you can't find a phone number for SPA RENTAL and also why the stocks of "import" Galaxies seem to be a bit low and/or increasing in price: Name & Registered Office : SPA RENTAL LTD 4TH FLOOR SOUTHFIELD HOUSE 11 LIVERPOOL GARDENS WORTHING WEST SUSSEX BN11 1RY Status :Liquidation Company No. :04304156 Date of Incorporation : 12/10/2001 Country of Origin : United Kingdom Company Type: Private Limited Company Nature Of Business (SIC(92)): 5010 - Sale of motor vehicles Accounting Reference Date : 31/03 Last Accounts Made Up To : 31/03/2002 (DORMANT) Next Accounts Due : 31/01/2004 Last Return Made Up To : 12/10/2002 Next Return Due : 09/11/2003 OVERDUE

200,000 miles....ouch!!! If you can wait another 30 months, you can get a 3 year old Ghia TDI from me with 150,000 miles on it... But seriously, what do we think that 1997 200K R-plater might be worth retail?
-
Import Galaxies seem to be a bit scarce at the moment, although Motorpoint seem to have about 15 - a mixture of LXs and Ghias. Motorpoint ones seem to come from Belgium and are purchased/imported by a (probably skeleton) company called SPA Rental (which is probably part of Motorpoint).

I just put 2 no. Dunlop 2020 tyres on mine this morning for

Heated Front Screen At Night And Others
iainkirk replied to MrT's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
Yep, my other half thinks the door pockets are litter bins. Surely she should have realised by now, that the location of the litter bin is the front passenger foot well !!! -
Two sets of front DISCS??? Surely you mean pads????

Oooooh predictable SA!!! But they have a SEAT badge and are uglier...you can't have it both ways... /me can sense both barrels coming... -
Hadn't noticed that one on tripcomputer in Facelift version. I can get 199mpg downhill tho!

Crikey, a fellow Carlislian (is that what we're called???) !!!

Most Galaxies with cruise don't seem to have the light ACTIVATED on the speedo to show that the cruise is engaged....even though the light is actually there!!! It would be useful, wouldn't it!!!!
-
All Galaxies delivered in UK since some time in December (from Ford dealers) are apparently to new spec.

On the subject of excessive current draw, try using the elcetric windows when you've got the headlights on. They will go dim (not a lot, but they do!).

I got mine from Motorpoint and would recommend. We've actually bought 2 cars from them this year. Their website says they are

Dally, What I actually MEANT to say was I'd not pressed the reset button on 2 for 15000 miles...it did indeed appear to re-set at about 10000 miles (and again when Mr. Orange fitted my hands-free kit), but consistently settles down at around 34.8mpg...something to do with my repetitive journeys I guess - 1000 miles per week typically!
-
Ummmmm....I must have a heavy right foot... :D Having left "setting 2" on the tripmeter un-reset for the last 15000 miles, I have acheived an overall consumption of 34.8mpg... I must slow down....ok maybe not, as I don't pay for the diesel :D
