Aren't VW's on variable service interval? 'Normal' driving apparently results in approx 15,000 mile service interval?? Ford ones are on fixed 10,000 miles - I believe there is a setting on VAG.COM to control the interval. I increased the servie interval on mine to 15,000 miles after 80,000 miles. Didn't notice any fall-off in performance or fuel efficiency.

Gertie Galaxy has gone! Yesterday I traded her in and she's apparently off to British Car Auctions in Preston... She doesn't look too bad really (see pic at bottom!), but she needs

Washed Engine Now Wont Start
iainkirk replied to suzuki91's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Like other posters have said, have you tried push starting it yet??? I always wash engines with the engine running and warmed up. Never killed anything yet that way, even with a pressure washer! -

Hello you lot! I haven't been around for a while as I've been really busy, but... The time has come for the old Gal to move on to pastures new, after being 'mine' for nearly 4 years and 112,000 miles! So, off we went this morning to her place of birth, that place of worship known as Motorpoint, to reduce the long-list down to a short-list and hopefully make a decision and order a new car whilst we were there. A new Galaxy wasn't high on the list, although I did have a good look at a brand new 2.0TDCi Zetec in 'Tonic' (or was it 'Stardust') for

BUT, did they actually change anything on the car or did they JUST change the interval?????

Which Transmission Bit?
iainkirk replied to Albert's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Couldn't tell you... Mine turned into a litany of problems when it went into Fraud Stealer. Eventually returned to me 3 weeks later with new CV Joint, new Flywheel, new exhaust F + R (it needed this for MOT), new flywheel sensor, recharged aircon (as they took the engine out), replaced power steeering fluid and various minor other bits. I was charged -
Looks like a cut rather than tread breakdown though...

MO4, was that a front tyre? I'm guessing it was front nearside. If that tyre has only done 6k, I would get your tracking checked, as it looks like you might have a tracking problem or your front tyres are/were under-inflated. I know Dunlop 2020s do appear to have a tapered tread towards the outside to start with, but that tyre looks to me like it had excessive shoulder wear compared to the middle of the tyre. Could just be the photo though. As for cheap tyres, I've got Accelera Alpha tyres on all four corners at the moment.

Which Transmission Bit?
iainkirk replied to Albert's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
From my recent experience, from the way it happened during a right turn, I would say nearside CV Joint has broken up. -

Anyone Ordered A New Gal Yet ?
iainkirk replied to jkspoff's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Now that IS a van! I know they disguise new cars when testing, but why have they disguised it with the whole body shell from a van?? I can't see the sellotape anywhere... Can't see it outselling the Galaxy this time round either!! -
40K intervals for your model year definitely. The reason they changed from 60K to 40K was due to the number of failures soon after 40K. Don't risk it.

Seat Belts Worn Out In 12 Months
iainkirk replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Do you have the height of the seatbelt set appropriately? Just a thought. 89000 miles/3yrs on mine and belts still as new/un-frayed. Or have they changed the seatbelt on the last facelift of Mk2's? -
Try eBay or a scrappy?
