1. One of my customers still isn't connected to Sky broadband, and they insist his line was activated on 3rd dec last year, They insist He's active and there is no fault on the line, I had to humour their tech support but to no avail. Since BT launched Openreach I can't get anyone to physically check the lines activated at the exchange anymore. I told hhim to get in touch with Trading Standards as he's paying for goods and services which He's not received.
2. Thanx Gteuk will bear what you said in mind, I now run a local PC Repair company in Huddersfield (Shorefix Computers), I used to work for a kitchen mfr programming and operating cnc's then went on to be a quality auditor (I mean pay lip service to ISO 9001/14001) then got s**t on. Most manufacturing is being transferred to Poland and the Poles are being employed in whats left of manufacturing in the UK I knew it was time to look at other things. Fixing PC's is quite a nice job, I can fit work round school runs and it gets me out of the house.
3. I've only just started up and was a bit naive, but I've got some spare time today and are sinking my teeth into these people, Wakefield college use one of the companies and I've had a very interesting convo with tthe head of marketing, She is at this very moment asking them for proof of distribution. I've already had a call back from watchdog who seem quite interested.
4. I had a call acouple of months ago from a Porter Publications claiming to make a calender for the fire service and they'd like advertise my business for
5. I had some dodgy stuff from Co-Op in huddersfield, but not to the extent of stalling, when I re-fueled at Jet the difference was like chalk and cheese, I was beggining to think Coil pack/spark plugs/MAF were faulty.
6. I hear what your saying 7up, School run only takes half the time now cos kids can get in car and belt up whilst I finish my first caffeine fix.
7. Thanks everyone, tracking done again today at local Motosave, and all is well, my steering wheel is now centred as well, something Kwick fit missed after I'd replaced t/r ends last year.
8. My steerings gone funny, I can turn right and the steering wheel returns to centre as it should, but turn left and it feels very vague and the steering wheel doesn't return to centre. I suspect it's the tracking but I'm not so sure. All the stuff connected to the hub carriers (drop links, lower b/j's, t/r ends, wheel bearings) seem to be fine. I'm a bit lost on this one any help is appreciated.
9. BREST WISHES M8
10. I used the connecters that came with it, but you have to be sure the wires are located properly in them and the metal tab is pressed home firmly, I dont like the idea of 'wire wrapping' unless your going to solder the connection. Whichever way you do it just make sure everithing works b4 you put it all away.
11. Hi 1310, I have a mk1 and mine creeps up to the 'm' when stood in traffic, then the fan kicks in, I have assumed this is normal as it never rises any further.
12. recieved this morning, for those that didn't sign, this is the goverments response
E-petition: Response from the Prime Minister
The e-petition asking the Prime Minister to "Scrap the planned vehicle tracking and road pricing policy" has now closed. This is a response from the Prime Minister, Tony Blair. Thank you for taking the time to register your views about road pricing on the Downing Street website. This petition was posted shortly before we published the Eddington Study, an independent review of Britain's transport network. This study set out long-term challenges and options for our transport network. It made clear that congestion is a major problem to which there is no easy answer. One aspect of the study was highlighting how road pricing could provide a solution to these problems and that advances in technology put these plans within our reach. Of course it would be ten years or more before any national scheme was technologically, never mind politically, feasible. That is the backdrop to this issue. As my response makes clear, this is not about imposing "stealth taxes" or introducing "Big Brother" surveillance. This is a complex subject, which cannot be resolved without a thorough investigation of all the options, combined with a full and frank debate about the choices we face at a local and national level. That's why I hope this detailed response will address your concerns and set out how we intend to take this issue forward. I see this email as the beginning, not the end of the debate, and the links below provide an opportunity for you to take it further. But let me be clear straight away: we have not made any decision about national road pricing. Indeed we are simply not yet in a position to do so. We are, for now, working with some local authorities that are interested in establishing local schemes to help address local congestion problems. Pricing is not being forced on any area, but any schemes would teach us more about how road pricing would work and inform decisions on a national scheme. And funds raised from these local schemes will be used to improve transport in those areas. One thing I suspect we can all agree is that congestion is bad. It's bad for business because it disrupts the delivery of goods and services. It affects people's quality of life. And it is bad for the environment. That is why tackling congestion is a key priority for any Government. Congestion is predicted to increase by 25% by 2015. This is being driven by economic prosperity. There are 6 million more vehicles on the road now than in 1997, and predictions are that this trend will continue. Part of the solution is to improve public transport, and to make the most of the existing road network. We have more than doubled investment since 1997, spending
13. YES
14. My condolences go out to the family. However I feel that they should HANG the b*****d, jail is no punishment, I know. Those that end up on rule 43 (segregation for nonces) are safely tucked away from harm, some of them end up in cushy cat d (open) prisons, I finished a sentence in one years ago (driving offences) and believe me Butlins is nowhere near as good. Why should taxpayers have to fork out in excess of a grand a week per prisoner when in what appears to be a clear cut case it be cheaper to let him swing. People will also feel that justice has been done. Sorry I may have opened a can of worms here, but I feel the whole British justice system stinks.

Coolant

Hi Merky, I've got the same car and I've found when motoring the needle rarely leaves the white part of the gauge, and when stood still it rises as it should. But I do have heat in the blower after approx 5 mins of tickover from below freezing.
16. New door barrels are reasonably easy to replace, if your boot lock is going round and round you'll obviously need some new bits, a VW dealer can usually get the individual components that make up the lock where as Fraud, i believe, can only supply a whole unit. If you can live with seperate keys for lock and ignition then they won't need coding.
17. Mum you can have both installed without any worries. Nik if your worried about it registering I suppose you could uninstall and re-install :10:, probably won't count though.
18. I've been using firefox for years, no problems. Isn't it strange how ie7 looks and feels almost like it, not as bullet proof as firefox though.
19. Just out of curiosity when should the timing chain be replaced on petrol engines?
20. Sorry I saw this thread a little late, You could go to www.shorefix.com click on 'useful links' and theres a few tools that will help you out, try the free pc saftey scan from MS, it'll take an age to complete but it is very comprehensive, scans for viruses, malware, rootkits, invalid registry entries etc etc.
21. Actually its not much different and would probably fit a mk1 too, I think my car needs a good valet!!! sorry I opened gob before brain.
22. That looks like the connector for the mk1 galaxy, which connects under the ashcan. soz mate
23. Instructions updated I finally decided to fit a remote unit from this chap using his ke04 kit I didn't think it was a bad price for
24. Apologies Wolfie you are quite right, I'm getting old, I thought on the early mk1 the central locking/pats/alarm were all one unit DUH, it's the central locking/anti-theft unit under the front passenger seat I mean when I've said PATS in my previous post
25. Just had a look on TIS apparently PATS is behind instrument cluster on '98-2000 models, or under dash panels on 2000+ models. I assume these are slightly harder to get to than under the passenger seat, don't quote me though ^_^ .
