It'll work even if turning key in lock doesn't work, assuming only the key barrel is faulty. It does not replace the central locking moduel though, if thats damaged then I assume a replacement will have to be sought. If its waterlogged, remove it and stick it on a radiator overnight, that works wonders for my phone when it been throgh a 40 deg wash (7 times now).

Air Bag Fault Under Seat?
MadBaz replied to bob1234's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sounds like clock spring (most probably), or the airbag has been rmoved at some point whilst the battery has been connected (possible) will need resetting via rds2000, or the airbag has been deployed and is missing (unlikely). the sensor iirc is built into the airbag module. The only thing under PASSENGER seat is c/l module and a fuel shut off device, there may be relays if you have heated seats but nowt to do with airbag. -

Galaxy's have a hydraulic clutch so it couldn't be the cable catching, check the pedal isn't snagging, also there maybe a switch on the clutch pedal, ensure it's secure. other than that it will probably start to get expensive (master/slave cylinder, pressure plate, tranny). My money would be on the slave cylinder/release bearing, check for drips of tranny fluid where the engine and bell housing meet. Also check for leaks around the pedal, indicates master cylinder, of course there may be none. Oh, and please turn off your caps, it's regarded as shouting

I've found mine doesn't go past the M in TEMP on the gauge, the fan starts up just as it gets there, yours should be roughly the same, run it on idle without heater on and after about 12-15 mins or so the fan should start and the needle should be around the E or M on the gauge

Fitting Rear Parking Sensors
MadBaz replied to Davetheref's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Reverse light negative just goes to local earth so it should be ok. I know this may be a bit obvious but does the buzzer sound when not in reverse? If it sounds when in reverse then check the sensors, do you have a towball? -
Reinforced Tyre Worry :-/
MadBaz replied to neiluk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Shoud not have any less than a 95t reinforced tyre info in this post -
I check my spare rarely, but I do carry one of them little 12v compressors for sale on some forecourts for about a fiver, its not very accurate or powerful but it does the job when necessary, its also useful for inflating the boys footballs, I think its a must have, can save some time/calling recovery when little b*****d of a nephew has let 2 tyres down!

Cheers for that, I'll get rid of it this weekend, I was just a little worried about it not doing its job and the cat becoming contaminated/damaged. I don't know of any other car having an afterburner to warm the cat up. I could do with an afterburner to warm up the cat that keeps s******g in my garden

I need a some advice on this one peeps, got my MOT next month and I'm getting nervous! The secondary air pump on my Gal has siezed, can I continue to run the gal without it affecting emmisions/cat? Strange thing is it's only been on 2 years, prevoius owner gave me receipt. It was fitted at same place (Fraud dealer in Powys) that fitted him a pair of 95t unreinforced tyres I might add. I know there is a TSB on TIS which says a new pipe can be fitted in it's place but the ecu needs to be reprogrammed, is it worth taking it to my local dealer for them to sort? Or shall I just remove it, clamp off the hoses and never worry about it again?

Reverse parked on Ropergate!! very impressive.

A tip for getting those alloys off is to REPLACE WHEELS BOLTS but not to tighten them fully, a couple of turns from tight should do, lower car to ground and rock from side to side and alloys should pop off without doing any damage. Found this tip on RAC forum.

Faulty Central Locking
MadBaz replied to 31Firefly's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It sounds like the wiring in the door gaiter has broken/split (common problem esp on tailgate), if a bare live has touched a speaker wire then your stereo/amp will be knackered, needless to say the wiring within the gaiters will need sorting. -
2001 Mondeo 1.8 - 2 Problems - Pinking And Whining
MadBaz replied to a topic in Technical Section (Mondeo)
Doesn't the camshaft sensor report the timing/TDC to the ECU, just a thought I could be wrong. edit: no I'm not wrong. Probably a good idea to get it to a dealer and get the codes read, you could end up on severall wild goose cases before getting to the true cause. -
Glad to hear she's on the mend

Some Drs are completly effing useless. My mates twins were born prem and had meningitus and septicemia, they were treat with penicillin based antibiotics and both are allergic, they were very poorly and spent the first 3 months of thier lives in hospital, just b4 thier 2nd birthday aimee had a chest infection and an out of hours dr was called, despite being told several times about the allergy to penicillin she dispensed from her boot a nice big bottle of yellow amoxycillin syrup, She just didn't understand that amoxycillin is penicillin based so I let her go on her merry way and took my mate Colin and Aimee to hospital, we complained to Pendoc (out of hours service) but haven't heard anything yet. It just galls me that such a basic mistake could have had far reaching consequences and She appears to have got away scot free. What else is She prescribing, happy pills for crying babies, placebo for head injury etc etc....

Ringways Of Doncaster .....crap........
MadBaz replied to aslo12's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I'm a little worried about how much oil they've put in your gal, you don't say which engine you have, I hope its the 2.8. these are the capacities with an oil filter change as quoted on Fords TIS cd 1.9tdi ........4.31 (3.8) 2.0............4.25 (4.0) 2.3 ...........4.0 .(3.75) 2.8 ...........5.5 .(5.0) Figures in brackets are without an oil filter change. as far as the service or lack of, I'd be kicking and screaming and I'd be on the phone to trading standards. In my opinion a contract took place when you booked the car in, they offered the service for -
