When I moved to england... I found it incredibly odd that the parents would charge their children for rent etc... In our culture, the earning child would live with his/her parents and by default help them out financially... Having become a parent myself, and my kids approaching their teens, I now understand it to be an excellent lesson...and I now have respect for the "english" way...it's more pragmatic than the lovey dovey, expect but dont expect way.... The net result is ofcourse the same, I just wonder which unifies the family unit more. Faz I agree with the advice you've been given here.. if the kids cant be bothered to help you.. you have to slap them with a room and board charge... and tbh

I just moved from Bulldog to Be, and it took me 10 days all in, Bulldog use their own line, and the only reason it took 10 days was because Be do some weird stuff to their phone lines... BT said they could have me connected in 3 days. when moving from regular adsl to regular adsl... it really shouldnt take much time.. but as wolfie said there are alot of friendly neighbours out there who leave their wireless unsecured, for JUST SUCH occasions... oh and being a gamer I might be prejudiced.. but I've tiscali are poo..

some interesting ideas glen. the day before the paper is printed is always the best day to negotiate. My experience was that once I was a regular advertiser, I would get the unfilled spaces offered to me for peanuts on the day before (or sometimes the morning of) printing. After about 6 months of advertising in 2 london papers, I no longer had fixed position ads, just multiple ads all over the place of different sizes.. upto 1/2 a page, costing me a maximum of

Mk1 2.0ltr Galaxy Problems
mumble_bee replied to big_ralge's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hey big_ralge apologies I'm not as clued up as most, but just to start you off... if after changing the leads it was good for a bit and then started again, would that imply its something upwards from the plugs ?? I dunno are there still distributors in cars ? do they have "points" ? could you have moisture in your HT coil ? (WD40!) just to get you started till the big boyz get here.. -

Mk2 Satnav In A Mk1 ?
mumble_bee replied to mumble_bee's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
steve, after reading through alot of the posts.. I get what you mean about the cables... what I'm not sure about is: If I buy a VW unit.. do I need to get the plug and play cable ASWELL as some ford cable ? If I buy a Ford Unit...do i just get a specific cable from ford and that does the job ? when you say older models do you mean older MFD mark 1 and not MFD Mark 2, or do you mean that within MK1 MFD there were different wirings in place. ? also this is the daftest question.. where does the aerial go ? also where bouts are you based .. since I'm considering picking up 2 of these I might have to get you to install 'em (if you're within 100 miles or so)... cheers -
Fitting Mfd To Mk1 Galaxy (1999)
mumble_bee replied to a topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
I know this thread is a year old... but it didnt finish... I was hoping to do this to both my gals.. I figured I'd do it to the one I'm selling too as it might sell it quicker ??? I really wish this had been finished off, I've only been trawling the ICE forum for 3 hours... What I'd also be interested in.. (my Mk1 2.3 gal is a ghia with the analog heater controls .. can this be done in that ?) also for the CC panel, was the final solution to use the newer cc panel from mk2 ? and are they interchangeable with the MK1 cc panel ? (in terms of operation) -

ta mate, at least you got my back  -
does anyone know if the mk2 ford satnav system will fit in a mk1 ? the one I'm interested in is here He says it'll control the existing CD changer, and I would assume the remote stalk would work with it too... only question is if it'll go in my 98 GhiaX

2.3petrol Intermit Rough Idle Fault
mumble_bee replied to Sim's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hmmm I've not experienced the rough idle, (on the 2.3 1999) but I have noticed my water temp go just over half way, still well within the NORM bit, but I'm uneasy about that.. now the car can sit there for over an hour and not go into red, it just climbs, then the fans kick in and it comes down, and maybe 5 mins later it climbs again and the fans kick in and it comes down, water levels are good, oil is clear, havent had a problem, its just niggling at me... cause I expect something to happen.. ( this behaviour is with or without aircon on) edit: oops sorry if I brought back a 3month old topic -
ok.. I'm gonna have to get a twin dvd and fridge too... maybe I'll make an extra grand on the car then

mike, I've definitely seen cars similar to yours advertised for 6k, but as teresa said, the petrols are incredibly difficult to sell... I think a hardnosed approach might work better than trying to play it chummy with the potential buyer.. I've been looking for a galaxy around 6k for 1 mate (altho he wants a diesel) and a sharan for another upto 8k.. (he also wants a diesel), and alot of the time I get the 2.3 petrol's in the way.. I'm surprised teresa got that kind of money, and I have to congratulate her.. in fact I'm driving up to stoke RIGHT NOW to drop mine off at her place... whaddaya say T ? anything over 2350, is yours ?????? in my opinion mike, yours would be valued around 5k, unless you can find a buyer who REALLY cares about the condition and emphasize clearly to them that this is a WELL LOOKED AFTER CAR, and not abused like most of its brethren on the market. good luck,
