50k, if the driver was 21 stone. -
trying to be totally impartial here... I have a Treg 2.3 ghia with 96k on the clock for sale (much cheaper than that one... plug plug).. but tbh if you're going to do anything like 10-15k miles a year and are keeping the car for a bit.. I'd go for the TDI.. the 2.3 manual (mine) gives me about 330 miles to

ayup dp, (the below is speculation on my unmechanicfied part) the temp switch on the rad, I think is to actually engage the fans.. so if your fans are coming on at all, then I think you wont have to change that..(I'm changing this on my 2.8v6 as the fans arent coming on at all.... will let you know tomorrow if you want) the temp switch behind the stat is the one I changed that my mechanic suggested.. (which made no difference), what that does apparently is "guage" the temperature, and send the kick in request to the fans... dunno about the 3rd. I dont think the stat is at the T, I think its closer to the main engine block where if you're looking at the engine face on.. its in the big fat pipe that comes out to your right and leads down to the T section near the front.. pls pls, I'm just mentioning what my mechanic says.. and speculating.. so dont kill me if I've said anything wrong.. well ok kill me then.

hihi,,, welcome on board mate.

hi dp, I've had my 2.3 mk1 for over a year now, and only a few months ago noticed this behaviour too, mine also sits around the O in normal driving and gets up to about the R in traffic, then the fans kick in... after testing everything I finally decided it was the temperature switch that was faulty, and quickly changed that... no difference.....(

do keep us informed about these, theres a trick for getting a better view ... lose weight, pull the driver seat right up to the wheel and lean over it as you drive. ... seems to work for some ;)

hey madbaz, nice to know mate, I just wonder how long the warranty on them is, I've had some bad experience with some that were popping.... until I ordered some from japan which worked great.

just the motor right ?

hey bige, I cant help with your problem, but if you decided to go the replacement route, make sure you get the right one, there were a few different assemblies over mark 1 at least, that I know of .. what year car you got ? (dont say 99 - apparently thats the toughest one) altho it sounds like there is some weird electrical feed into the motor ??

with a noisy engine like that, I wouldnt put it above 1k

Blowers And Aircon Stopped Working
mumble_bee replied to Galaxy_Quest's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
damn sorry getting confused tween the 2 probs I had....(that was for lights) the bottom right fuse is for the blowers...(34) I remember its location cause mine used to blow all the time.. and I would change it whilst driving <_< failing that, I would say the resistor pack has packed in :o sorry for the confusion -

the mk2 only came with 2.0 in Seat and VW. the 2.3 is only available to Ford, and in my experience is an almost identical engine in mk1 and mk2, (I've swapped parts..) I wouldnt be surprised at all if the 2.0 was the same engine on mk1 gal+vw as the mk2 vw, however I would advise a measure of caution if you're going to swap electrical bits from 1 to another.. in my current seat vr6 to gal v6 project I came across a slight difference on a cam sensor.. although the plug was (modifiably) the same. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess: all the 113 and 115 2.0 petrol engines across mk1 and mk2 are the same. (across 3 makes) all the 2.3 petrol engines mk1 and mk2 are the same. (ford only) however 2.8 v6 petrol engines mk1 and mk2 are NOT the same... all the diesel engines across mk1 and mk2 are smoke factories.

How Do You Test A/c Working In Winter.
mumble_bee replied to neiluk's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
hi neil welcome to the board.. my guess would be to see how much faster it dissipates condensation, I assume when aircon is on the air coming out is dry, just a guess... altho its always a good idea to pretend you dropped your pen under the passenger seat, so you can feel the carpet in the passenger footwell... -
does it lock and unlock the glovebox ?

hi all, there's this fun game I'm playing nowadays... its kinda like AGE of Empires meets simcity... If you wanna have a look the game is called travian and can be found here <click me> It is not at all resource intensive as it is browser based, and is not particularly time consuming either.. personally I log in about 5 times a day for a maximum of 5 minutes.. (although initially it might take a little longer just to get to grips with it).. saying that I've only been playing it 3 days.

Juddery Banana Shaped Wipers
mumble_bee replied to Grandad's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hmm... I think the wiper arm has a 4-5" rod that is perpendicular to it at the base, that goes into the wiper assembly in what is a tube that itself is perpendicular to the 2 wiper assembly rods across the car. Mo4 would be able to tell you better, but I think the 4-5" rod is bolted at the base of the tube and connected to the long rods. I dont know if it is serviceable or removeable... although I have bought just wiper arms from a scrappy... but my story with the wipers is incredibly longwinded. could you put something between the wiper arms and the tubes to change the angle that they are coming to the screen at ? dunno.. good luck here -
lol no not that one I just put in an offer of 205 for that one...

theres a gazillion satnavs available on fleabay. usually go for about 250 odd, from the millions of posts about this in the ICE section, you will find you need the following: panel that fits the satnav gps antenna plug and play cable satnav itself + CD and depending on whethere you want to hook up the cdchanger or not some adapter or possibly a new changer. The satnav units have AV input cables that you would buy seperately.. and allow you to input all kinds of.. um .. AV hth
