  1. Good thinking, I'll check it in the morning.
  2. My Galaxy has developed a squeaky sort of rattle. I think the noise is coming from under the car from around the petrol tank area. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.
  3. Forgot to say. Easy enough to do, if I can do it anyone can
  4. Yeah I've converted mine to HID. GSMGuy on this forum sells them. Contact him for a price (very reasonable). Good quality item and works ok with the bulb detection circuit on Ghia models. I recommend you have you headlights readjusted for maximum spread because they are radically different. On the offside headlight the ballast box was mounted underneath the headlight assembly. On the nearside headlight the ballast box was mounted in the battery box area. I only done dipped beam at the moment. Not sure about high beam as the lights take a few seconds to fully illuminate and with switching highbeam on/off may not give them time to warm up. All in all well worth doing.
  5. Does anybody know where it is? Probably in the middle behind the dash
  6. VR6, I've fixed it, she's back. I had all pop-ups blocked, which is a suitable term for your picture
  7. VR6 What's happened to your wonderful lady, she's not "moving" anymore. I've just had to re-install my pc, have I forget something? Makes a change from Galaxy problems.
  8. I have a Mk2 Galaxy. When you switch off there is a motor or pump that runs for about 15 minutes. I've read on this forum that it may be to do with preventing hot spots on the engine. I have noticed over the past couple of days that this motor/pump is making a little more noise than usual. Could someone tell me:- What its' for. Where is it. Is it making a little more noise than usual something to worry about. Thank you.
  9. Check under the front passenger seat to see if it's soaking wet. If so you can remove the module and if you're lucky dry it out in the airing cupboard. If it is wet, do a search for leaking rear windscreen washer, common problem.
  10. The diesel engine is very efficient and it does indeed take some time to warm up because of this efficiency. The aux heater was added because of this to keep the passengers happy.
  11. Had my headlight levelling motor replaced today.
  12. Does it smell like those pear drop sweets?
  13. Try cellulose thinners.
  14. GSMGuy, can't really tell about the HID's yet as my lights are on level setting 1 because the adjuster motor is knackered. When in the highest position the levelling motor would chatter and make the dip beam flicker (which I mentioned if you remember, no fault of the HID's). I might see if I can get them adjusted to give a more uniform spread as they seem very directional with lots of shadows at the moment. I've ordered some Osram Cool Blue H1's for my high beam because I can't afford to upgrade them to HID's at the moment. Also need to think where to put the extra ballast boxes. I've found some Philips W5W xenon filled side lamp bulbs which are supposed to blend in better with the HID's. Doesn't look too good at the moment because the side lamps look so yellow. These HID's are really bright :D , I've just parked up and come indoors and even the house lights look dim and yellow now.
  15. Because I used a 20mm grommet the cables were a tight fit leaving only very small gaps. I'm going to fill these gaps with black silicon once I've had the headlight adjuster motor replaced. Whilst at the garage the guy adjusted my headlights FOC and will adjust them again when the adjuster has been replaced.
  16. I'll have a trip to the dealer and see what they have to say. Probably have to buy a complete headlight assembly knowing them :D I think it's been like for some time so may just live with it. The HID's are brilliant, may be worth getting the alignment set up properly to get the full benefit from them. It's really weird, everybody elses lights look yellow now, never noticed it before
  17. Can only say WOW. I have a small problem. It was there before I installed the HID's. The off side headlight adjuster motor chatters when in its highest position and won't lower the beam when you alter it. If you wiggle the bulb holder the motor seems to "bite" and the level adjusts. When you restore the level back to high it chatters again....... Anybody got any ideas, is it the motor worn?
  18. Received my HID's this morning, the quality of the product is excellent. Fitting Instructions for Mk2 Galaxy I removed my headlights for ease of installation. I only replaced the dipped beam. Factory fit is dipped beam only. The ballast for the offside headlight was fitted to a flat surface directly underneath the headlight unit. The ballast for the nearside headlight was fitted on the left side of the battery box area. On each headlight access cover drill a 20mm hole in the middle and fit a grommet. The grommet is not essential but makes the installation look more professional. The grommets can be obtained from your local electrical or DIY store for a few pence. Replace the existing bulbs with the new HID's, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS. Pass the two cables from the ballast box through the access cover and connect the four wires. Try and keep the wiring clear of the dipped beam bulb so that the beam adjuster mechanism still works freely. Replace the access covers and test. Make sure the beam adjustment is still working ok. If not, check that the wiring is not obstructing the bulb. For those people with Ghia models, this kit works ok with the vehicle's bulb check facilty. The installation took about an hour and is easy even for me! Can't wait for tonight to try them out. I got my kit from GSMGuy and found him very polite, helpful and informative.
  19. First off, check the battery connections. Make sure they are clean and tight.
  20. Also check the electronics under the passenger seat and make sure you have no water in there, fingers crossed :o
  21. Does the filling station unleaded pump fit snuggly in the petrol filler? If it does then it is an unleaded filler as a diesel pump filler would not fit. If it's a loose fit and it looks like you could get a larger filler in then its probably a diesel filler. I have a 2.3 petrol and my filler is black, it states fuel type (unleaded) on the inside of the flap. Hope this clears things up for you.
  22. There are two screws at the bottom of each side of the headlight, slacken these off do not remove them. You will need a long stardrive screwdriver to reach them. Others on the forum say you don't have to remove the unit but I found it almost impossible the change the bulb otherwise.
  23. See this thread. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=4220
  24. Does the radio still give you the option to alter the AVC gain, ie five presses on the "menu" button?
  25. Not all cars have AVC fitted. Does the radio give you the AVC option? Has the radio got a single thin purple wire connected via a small connection block, this is the AVC control wire?
