My Galaxy is just over a year old and had to have the condensor changed because the aircon was blowing warm. All done under warranty.

No faults registered in the fault log, however, they found that the gearbox was overfilled and drained one litre of oil out. One thing they did do tough, THEY BENT MY SILLS AGAIN.....AGHHHHHHH!!!! I'm now going to contact Ford direct as I'm slightly p****d off.

My 2.3 Zetec only selects third althought I can select P,R & N as well. Goes in tomorrow, hopefully the dealer can find the fault. If so I'll report back cos it might give some clues for your Galaxy.

Hi I reported on another thread that I had problems with my auto gearbox only intermittently selecting third gear only. This problem seems to have cleared after I pulled the fuse for the auto gearbox. However, the problem has now come back and the little engine symbol on the dash is now on continously. As my dealer can't look at for another week, my question is can I still drive the car? Thanks in advance for any comments you may have.

So when you run it on petrol it's going to harm the environment, not very nice.

When I start my Galaxy first thing in the morning the gearbox selects 3rd gear and will not change up or down, however, I can select neutral, park and reverse ok. If I restart the vehicle everything is ok and remains ok all day until the next morning. Any ideas? Thanks

My neighbour has a '97 2.8Ghia Galaxy and can't get the rear heating/ventilation fan to work. It has been into the dealers and has been fixed but they still can't get it to operate. They have the climate control panel. Please help.

If it's the oval shaped clock on top of the dashboard, yes it should. The clock can be carefully prised out to change the bulb. I used the two pieces of wood used in a clothes peg to prise mine out, this prevents damage to the surrounding plastic. Hope the info helps.

Air Conditioning

Apparently my condenser has gone but fortunately is covered under the warranty. Got to wait for the part before the dealer can fit it. I'll report back when the job is done. -
Air Conditioning

Thanks for the replies. At least I now know that my a/c should be blowing cold. The car's in for a service in the next couple of weeks so I'll get them to check it over then. I wonder if they will crush my sills this time, now that's another story. I'll keep you posted. -
Hi I have a 2001 2.3 Zetec with manual air conditioning. The air coming out of the vents is not very cold, is this normal or may I have a problem. With the recent hot spell we just had the air conditioning did not cope and we had to open the windows instead. I've had other vehicles with a/c, including a Toyota Previa, and the temperature was definately cold.

96 V6 Auto Gearbox Problem
chromedome replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I'm sorry to say that it sounds like your torque converter is on it's way out. Could be a gearbox rebuild, ouch!! -
Glad you got yours sills done. The dealers should do something about the moronic mechanics who jack any vehicle up using the sills in the first place. Perhaps they should deduct the cost of the repairs from their wages!! They straightened my sills Ok, but when I asked the service manager what guarantee he could give for it not happening again, his reply was "My crystal ball isn't that big". Inspires confidence, not!!! I personally will be on my hands and knees checking the sills following any work done by the dealer. Perhaps someone could gather up all the comments made on the forum and send them to Ford, Volkswagen and Seat, oh and don't forget Kwik Fit.

P1948040 I've sent the info you wanted. What a saga this is turning out to be.

To Fredt again. What make trolley jack do you have. I might then be able to order one with the sill adapter. Most trolley jacks I've looked at just have a rotating metal saddle. I would imagine these would chew up the underseal protection. Thanks again for everyones comments. I have got my Galaxy back again complete with proper sills, until the service is due!!!! Aghhhhhhhh not again.
-
I would think a damaged sill would fail the MOT as well.
-
To Fredt. Hi Where do you get the special tool from? I'd like one to use with my trolley jack. Thanks. PS. I might even show it to the Ford dealer, might start some bell ringing!! he he he.

I thought if you just locked the car with the key, without turning the key one way then the other, it locks without enabling the alarm.

After picking my Galaxy up from the Ford dealer following some work, I noticed that both sills had been crushed by jacking the car up on them. Both sills are being repaired but when asked if it's normal to jack a car up using the sills they said it's OK with Ford. Some feedback would be appreciated, I don't fancy knackered sills every time my Galaxy takes a trip to the garage. Thanks

Yeah it's noticable, more of a "woosh" when you start to undo it and then hisses. There should be a section on the forum for sound effects hehehe!!

Sorry, all I know is they changed all the valves on the fuel system. The dealer said all valves tested OK but they changed them because of all the visits I made with the same problem. They said there was no info about the problem on their TIS. I have noticed that the filler neck area is different to what I used to have, hence, is there a mod? They did make some comment about me having VW parts but I don't think that should make any difference. The whole saga is a mystery, however, if your car is under three years old get them to fix it for health and safety reasons. It's a good job no one smokes in our family otherwise we would have blown up long ago. Seriously though, petrol fumes are a hazard and could affect your driving ability without you even realising and the end results don't bear thinking about. My dealers info is:- T.C.Harrison (Peterborough) 01733 425555 Just in case your dealer wants to talk to a mechanic at my garage about it. Hope the info helps a little.

I have a 2001 2.3 Zetec with manual air con. It works fine but does take a bit longer than a car to cool because of the large area. Do you set the air flow to recycle? You should do this to ensure maximum cooling otherwise you are continually dragging in warm air. I also switch on the rear air flow to help move the air around.

Today the Dealer changed all three valves on the fuel system and my petrol smell has disappeared. I've now noticed that my petrol cap "hisses" when I remove it, it never made a sound before. I've also noticed that the filler nozzle is different. Is there a mod to the Galaxy that we're not being told about?

I forgot to mention, you prise the clock out with the two peg pieces, one by the nine and one by the three.
