Change Headlight Bulbon 03 130 Diesal
chromedome replied to godimgood99's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The nearside headlight is the easier one to change as well!!! I've upgraded my bulbs to Philips Vision Plus, great improvement over standard bulbs. Details can be found here http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ And no, I don't work for them ha, ha, ha. -

Never has done when I've done it. The headlight adjustment is set up by different screws. -
Change Headlight Bulbon 03 130 Diesal
chromedome replied to godimgood99's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It's dead easy if you remove the headlight unit, 10 minute job. There are two screws on top of the headlight with plastic caps on, remove these. At the bottom of each side of the headlight is a screw, slacken these off a couple of turns, don't remove them. The headlight then pulls forward giving you pleanty of room to change the bulb. You will need a long star drive screwdriver. Hope this helps. -
Problem solved. Went to VW's, traitor!!, and they specify a 380mm wiper blade not a 400mm. Stuck a 380mm on and it now wipes the same size area all over.

Please, does anybody know where I can get an original fit rear wiper?
-
Hi I've been reading through the forum about the rear wiper missing the top part of the screen. My question is, where can I get a factory fit wiper blade from as my local Ford dealer only stocks/lists normal blades. Should I try VW? Thanks.

If I'm right there's a vacuum hose attached to the cruise control pump. If this hose is split it could leak air and cause the revs to rise and the cruise control not to work. Worth a look.

Help, Wheel Locking Nut Missing!
chromedome replied to Xenonman's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
As far as I know you can't get it seperately. You'll have to remove the old locking nuts, somehow, and replace them. Perhaps someone on this forum will tell you how to remove them. -

Hinges On Cd Changer Enclosure
chromedome replied to Denis's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I can see from your profile that you have an 03 vehicle. Try going back to the dealer and see if it's covered by warranty. You can say the hinging mechanism is not fit for purpose. -
Thanks for the replies guys. At least it's proved that the dealer wasn't telling porkies

Mr T. If you find out you can come and do mine ha, ha, ha. My cruise control was not working when I got the vehicle so I assumed that was the reason the light didn't work. Now the cruise has been fix, new pump and pipe, the light still isn't there. I thought this might be a safety issue!!!!!!

I've just had my cruise control fixed and the light on the dashboard does not illuminate. I have checked with the dealer who say certain models didn't have the light fitted depending on date of manufacture. Can anybody confirm this? Thank you.

Found a site but it cost $250. Cheaper to pay your dealer a tenner. -
Any Ideas - Rattling Rear Brakes!
chromedome replied to timwood2000's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've had something similar to this, not on a Galaxy though, and it was a worn shock absorber mounting bush which allowed the shock to clang about. May be worth a look. Sorry can't think of anything else at the moment. -
Picked up my 2001 Galaxy 2.3 Ghia Auto on Saturday. Cruise control does not work and parking sensors indicate a fault. Booked in to the dealer for Thursday, warranty job thank goodness. I must give the Ford dealer some credit:- They refurbished the alloy wheels and fitted new centre caps. They replaced the interior door handles as they were worn, something Galaxies suffer from. They replaced all the trim around the rear opening as it looked a bit shabby. They replaced the Ford badges as the silver had tarnished. Valeted, serviced and MOT. Not bad considering the vehicle is three years old and you take into account wear and tear.

Thanks a lot for your replies, much appreciated. One more question, does the Galaxy have a heated front windscreen?
-
Hi I'm thinking of buying a 2001 2.3 Galaxy Ghia Auto. It has had one owner from new and has 48k on the clock. Seems to be in reasonable condition, FSH, is there anything I should look for? Is 48k high or do these engine go on for a good time if properly maintained? Does the climate control cope ok with the size of the car? Thanks in advance for any comment received.

Transmission "run-out"/wobble
chromedome replied to Dave-G's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I had a bad wobble problem on a new Escort once. At about 40/50 mph the whole front end used to wobble about, a bit watching a jelly wobbling. After a lot of investigation, it turned out that both CV's ( I think that's what they are called, connect the drive shafts to the gearbox) hadn't been greased from new. Must have been one of those tea-break cars!!! The CV's were greased up and all the wobble stopped. Could be you have a similar problem. Anyway should be covered by the warranty. -

The problem was the electronic gearbox controller. Replaced and now working properly. -
Driver's Door Rattle
chromedome replied to grifjl's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Both my front doors rattle and they are getting progressively worse. The drivers door panel doesn't appear to be fixed properly as there is a 6mm gap between it and the door. The passenger door has someting rolling about in it so as you brake or accelerate it rolls backwards and forwards. I'm a bit concerned about removing the door panels myself so it's booked in with the dealer next week. I'll let you know if they fix it. -
Wants A Service - But This Soon?
chromedome replied to Taliska's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You say you bought the car new. I suggest contacting your dealer for info. It could be the TDI needs a first service (probably just an oil change) at 5000. -
Auto Gearbox Problem
chromedome replied to chromedome's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Been some time I know, however, my auto box is now stuck permanently in 3rd gear. After three days at the dealers and with some help from Ford Technical the fault is the electronic gearbox controller. This thing works out what gear you should be in depending on road speed, acceleration, etc. Sounds expensive, good job it's still under warranty (just).
