Things Most Likely To Go Wrong
AndeeeH replied to Jimbo73's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
I know it is from a Galaxy brochure but they do say 'a picture is worth a thousand words' and it might help the less intellectual amongst us to understand the differing power curves for some of the engines, both petrol and diesel. Andy -

Should have said 1996 P reg 1.8TD Had a similar problem on my Maverick that turned out to be a slightly bent pin on the alternator where the three pin plug is attached. Could have happened when your new alternator was fitted. ;) Andy.

Things Most Likely To Go Wrong

Utter rubbish ! Check your facts they are clearly wrong. Useful info for misinformed people. power = (engine speed * engine torque) / 5252 this equation relates to the laws of physics ( go argue with Newton or Einstein or Plank on this one ) Translating this becomes BHP = (rpm*lb/ft ) 5252 Therefore assuming same revs all the diesel engines Torque is a function of BHP, the rpm and constant 5252 are the same for all engines. Therefore if 150 BHP engine has a torque of 310Nm the 110BHP = 227Nm the 115BHP = 238NM the 130BHP = 269 NM I await a more sensible reply  According to the figures quoted by Fords for the 115 and 130 Tdi's in the Galaxy brochures dated 06/2003 and 03/2004 the figures quoted by tim-spam are correct: 310 Nm@1900 rpm. The 90 is quoted as 240 Nm @ 1900 rpm. Andy. -
yep I'll agree with that :D .........and so say all of us!!!!!!(well nearly all of us) :D Andy.

As did Ford - the early Ghia models were 6 seat (up to October 1996) were all these 'captains' seats ?? The early Ghia models were, yes. It was also an option on later models too, usually combined with the leather facing. I had one of the early Ghias, it had six 'captain' seats but no Aircon. Andy.

Looking at the TIS diagram I think you dont have it quite right. From bottom right pulley it goes INSIDE(to the left) of the one above it(3 small circles on it) then OUTSIDE(to the right) of the smaller one at top right, then over the alternator, then OUTSIDE(to the left) of the next one, then INSIDE(to the right) of the tensioner, then OUTSIDE(to the left) of the one at bottom left. Hope this helps. ;) Andy.

The wires for the rear passenger door speakers on both sides are RED and BROWN & RED where they leave the connector in/near the rubber boot between the door frame and the door. Andy.

"think we had better put a warning sign up saying:- mad woman on loose around this area in march if you see a slate blue x reg gal please inform www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford where we can all really know how many times she gets lost" Maz must be lost already; March is in Cambridgeshire not Linconshire.  Andy.

According to the 2004 brochure if either 'Journey Pack 1' or 'Journey Pack 2' are fitted then you lose; 'cassette, CD autochanger and swivelling front seats' and 'please note audio CD's cannot be played through the sat nav system'. I think it is the multimedia system that causes the loss of the auto changer because in the picture of the sat nav unit it shows written on the front of it: 'CD Changer Controls'. Andy.

IIRC in the Aspen you were lucky to get a radio. :) The further up the range you went LX, GLX, GHIA the better the ICE and the more speakers were fitted as standard. :( Andy.
