Hmmmm.. Sooo..having been lost a few posts ago on AC/DC......is this "High Voltage" which makes the cable a "live Wire" which in turn caused a "Meltdown" with a "Flick of The Switch" or have i got it "All Screwed Up"??
-
But if he just replaces the cable...everything may be ok..then he can do alll this ac/dc stuff cant he??
-
Hmmm........ In this thread...it has a post about the voltage of calcium batteries http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...l=fuse+feed+box
-
now thats just plain mean :P ..Nowt wrong with my wee Veccy...........well...much anyway :)
-
I need to correct myself here..it was the diode pack that was burnt out in my alt that went.. http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...l=fuse+feed+box doing a search..this is a common fault ....a worrying one i think....there are quite a few of us this has happened to.
-
Crumbs at least 3 of us agree to replace the cable first THEN see what happens!..the cable is at fault here..My battery was fine when mine went..even when the second time it went the bushes? in the alt were burnt out!..Silver Calcium batteries are a lot more robust then lead acid ones. since i didnt understand a word you said Bleeno....i'll pass on that vote :P P.S. just replace the cable..and i reckon it will allllllllll be fine.
-
If the cable is faulty..which i believe it to be...the more you keep turning the engine on..the more chance there is of that fuse going poof again. You need to replace it then do all your tests. Its simple...why replace just the fuse when what caused the fuse to go poof was the cable chucking loadsa heat out soo stands to reason to replace the cable then see how the battery and alt do.
-
But he said the cable got warm with the ignition on..so there were electricals on. I still reckon its the cable.
-
Lighten up peeps please........got some white emulsion if you need it?.. A lot of us are guilty of saying certain cars are rubbish/cr@p etc.....done it myself :P we all have our own opinions/favourite engines/cars/etc.....even favourite colours. It really doesnt matter what paper/mag you read, in all of them there are parts that are hardly brain taxing.. we are all daft and silly at times.... As for petrol engines..never thought i would drive a car with a petrol one wish i had a diesel one but right now apart from the fuel consumption i cant fault it..goes like a bat out of hell! Soooooooo....who wants a lollipop ???? got strawberry flavour??
-
It was recommended to replace the cable aswell....I know when my cable was replaced the mechanic made one up...You could do this your self..if you show the garage the cable you are on about and tell them you want it replaceing..they should do it...new cable and new connections and all should be well. As insider has said..the cable is the problem and needs to be replaced
-
Did you replace the cable or is it still the original one?

are you taking the piss wolfie????,,i dont go round deleteing posts..nor editing them unless it is called for...sometimes the op will ask one of the mods to delete/move or edit a post..... My need to have meets...isnt this a place to help each other???..the next best thing to here is to meet and get practical advice..maybe there are people out there who like me find it hard to follow written instructions..i am better with pictures or being shown. there are those on here who have vag com..and those on here who ask if someone is willing to help them with code reading..what better way than to meet???..it is something i thought the members might like.if i was wrong then so be it. as for me playing the martyr/helpless female...far from it.

madbaz..what is going on on the forum right now is aimed at a couple of people..im sure you can figure out who. This happens every now and then and bringing it into debate i dont think will help.I personally do not like being slagged off on here..and i will not have one member wish another dead on here either.

Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (mk Iii)
mumof4 replied to AndyBee's topic in MKIII Technical section
My opinion is my own..no one elses..we all have our own opinions on everything..if he wants it deactivated..his choice..i do not judge his actions. I do not believe that what i post is the be all and end all..never have done..yes i know i post crap but so do others..and before you say it...yes i post 90 percent of it. Most of us before now have disagreed with an idea/mod ... What i put is my opinion only..it doesnt count in any decisions he makes. -
