I assume you have replaced the fuse already????? I believe you need a voltimetre to test the Alternator...i could be wrong as ive never tested one.Someone better than i can answer that question for you...start simple and work up..replace the fuse/box..i would advise to replace that cable aswell......if no joy...try trickle charging the battery..(what type have you got??)..if still no joy..next look to the alternator. Touch wood that it is ok.

Umm..i take it you mean the main fuse feed box melted a tadge????(one under the bonnet) If so..when you replace the fuse/box..(only 20 quid i think)....replace the main black cable aswell...alternator one i think it is..Its happened to a few of us on here..myself and dingo included.Second time mine went..so did the alternator!

Be very careful....i was out and about the other day and right in front of me on the A17 at the bottom of the hill a car and his van went their seperate ways..the rear of the car was a right mess and the van was totalled as it ended up on its side after going up a bank ..going over and coming to rest across two lanes..the car ended up in the against the central reservation bit.Road was closed for an hour till they could shift all the debris.Gotta admit that he was snakeing a bit before it happened.Wasnt a pretty sight i tell you.

download a workshop manual...Hmm......you can buy a TIS disc from ebay?????..or there is ETKA.. If you do get a disc..make sure you get the right one as there a couple of diff ones out there.There is no Haynes Manual for the MKII Galaxy which is what you have.All we have are the discs.

How do i find out whether mine on the veccy should be 40k or 80k???..as in 1997 they upped it from 40 to 80..but as my wee veccy was first reg Aug 1997..how do i know/find out which she comes under??the cambelt was last done at 57k miles..she is now on nearly 100,400 miles... As per the haynes manual i was given....i have checked the belt for wear..i.e..fraying etc.....and it looks in perfect condition.Runs smooth when she is idling aswell.(the belt i mean..)
