Good point. To add to this, what about unrealistic speed limits? I sometimes get the feeling that our local councils want to bring the whole country to a halt.

Please name and shame. In my area 'Humphrey's' tried to fit a V rated tyre to my Z-tyre-rated car. They argued that I'd never drive over 130mph anyway (however, at the time I worked for a company in Munich...) Trading standards were interested and persued the claim, however, in the end (as I refused the tyre and there was no paperwork) it was my word against thiers and so no action could be taken.

Mof4 - did you buy a clunker? So many things wrong with your Galaxy! :lol: The manual six speed box is a well known for it's notchy change, especially when cold, and especially into second from first. They do get less notchy over time.

I quite agree - no thank you to skimming. I'm surprised if Snap-On make such a device, but then you never know. Some well respected peeps think that oil suction devices are a brilliant idea (you know, to do an oil change). Some people even like diesels. (BTW to anneal you need to heat and then quench.)

They could need doing at 50 miles, let alone 50k. One of the worst things you can do is brake hard from high speed to a stop then sit with your foot hard on the brake pedal - where the pads sit retains the heat, and the rest of the disc cools more quickly. The heat differential can cause the discs to warp. I agree with Johnb80 - buy new ones.

I believe doa2 is right. I won't lose sleep over this - yes I was speeding, and if I get a ticket it's a 'fair cop'.

On my way to Christchurch this morning, obeying every speed limit. Then, so that I can get past a car with (probably) no piston rings, and let a high speed car behind me get past, I nudged 90mph indicated.... Just then I noticed the front of a white car sticking out... Applied the brakes, and I think I got back down to 70mph by the time I could see the cop with his gun resting on the roof of the jam butty. But you never know - these things can read speed an awful long way away... So, I'll just wait and see if the 'dreaded' arrives in the post. In the meantime, am I the only one who would rather see a few more cops on the roads and less money making cameras? The cops time would have been well spent IMHO pulling over the guy with the busted engine - old Vectra, probably uninsured, no tax...

I have to say that I also have some sympathy with delboyt. It's arrogant of vr6 to take the micky about del's spelling - he makes more than enough mistakes himself. Both have posted useful and helpful answers in the technical forums. Come on guys, as gregers says, let's chill.

Doctor, doctor, there's a steering wheel on the end of my willy and it's driving me nuts! (apologies to Mof4, gregers, Popdorset and others who have heard that one before, as many as five times in one evening!)

Finally (breathes a sigh of relief) this is during our visit to the 'Mucky Duck' pub in Bradford.

Here we are at Disneyland... the only polar bears here are people dressed up in polar bear outfits.

Here's the Galaxy parked up in the New Forest last summer. (No polar bears here, either.)
