Pollen Filter Renewal
El Dingo replied to mustie's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
delboyt posted the correct solution. With or without the 'joke' reply. Note that the 'odour' filters (charcoal) are thicker, and in my car the assembled filter and frame cannot be got past the wiper motor. They need to be pushed through separately and assembled just before clipping in place. Mind you, this is a bit late now he's done the job. What was that post about 'How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb?' :) -
Cd Changer...vw Or Ford?
El Dingo replied to mumof4's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
...not from ebay either... It's back-slang y'know - 'Ooklay on the Ebay'. (Like in 'Monsters Inc.', 'Ooklay in the agbay'.) -

IMHO chuck them both away and buy an aftermarket MP3 player. One MP3 holds about 10 albums worth. Don't forget to buy converter cables, aerial amplifier and dash adaptor. See? Easy... -
OK, fair enough... (Very good MM - top of the class!) Here's me, standing in front of an interview of Rev. Ian Paisley at Belfast City Airport...

Vw Sharan Pulling To Left
El Dingo replied to Dirtbag's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sorry, but this isn't really right. The actual length of the track rod won't have any effect on the steering geometry. The correct procedure is to centre and lock the steering wheel, then loosen and adjust the rod lengths to set the toe angle. -

I agree with the Car Audio Centre - go for an aftermarket unit. In my old Audi I changed the dealer fit Sony with a Kenwood Rad/cass and changer for less than the price of a Sony CD player, and the sound quality was better. However, why not just change the head unit for an MP3/CD single slot? An MP3 disc can hold up to 11 or 12 albums worth. All the major brands do an MP3 unit now - I had an Alpine in a Seat Leon and this was great (if a little 'bright' sounding for my taste). You won't lose power on/off functions if the new unit is wired in properly (ignition sense). But you might need a 'conversion' loom from Ford/ISO to ISO/brand specific connectors, and you'll almost certainly need an aerial ampifier (both standard parts from 'Autoleads' that you can buy in any good Car Audio Centre). EDIT - one typo, and just to say hello and welcome. The Seat head unit in my Leon was an Aura (made by Grundig) and really was rubbish. -
Wobble On Acceleration
El Dingo replied to roly1977's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Now I read your first post again, I wonder if you have a tyre problem? Have a look at the sidewalls, especially inboard (where you wouldn't normally notice any bulges). -

Yes, check for split CV boot first. If the boot is intact it should be possible to 'top up' the grease. EDIT - Don't overfill. -
Try Garrett Wright in Slough.

Dipsomaniac, don't forget to thank Honest John for his help.

On a technical note, it's not the oil pressure from the oil pump that keeps the bearings full of oil under load - it's just that the oil that's in there can't escape fast enough! The pressures are considerably higher too...
-
I sympathise. One minute with little or no oil pressure? A siezed engine can mean a lot of different things - usually the piston rings lock up first, leading to extensive scoring. This can be followed by destruction of the mains/big end bearings and can lead to con-rod failure. In any event, a new short engine will be the minimum required. No, it can't be un-seized - even if the engine turns over, it'll have most likely suffered internal damage that will lead to another sieze or worse. ;)

Alhambra Aftermarket Fit
El Dingo replied to Brinkman's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
In my experience, all you'll need are the Autoleads Ford/ISO cable and the aerial adaptor to power up the 'active' aerial. -
Oops, I mean true... ;) Ummm, not true.. :D (I think I'll just self-immolate ;) ) (Oh no, more diesel soot! ;) )
