You should be able to talk to 01:Engine 02:Auto Transmission.....if you have one 03:ABS 08:Climate Control/Heater 09:Central Electronics.......( depending on software version) 15;Airbags 17:Instruments I think I might have missed one...can't remember which !

Try JVC or Sony although there are a million and one others out there. I think the issue of not catching on is a general DAB radio one.....it doesn't offer any real advantage over analogue.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. If you check the FAQ ( link at bottom ) or its pinned in the Technical section you should find plenty of information.

You are holding it in the unlock/lock position for a lot longer than half a second.

Just thought i would let you know that I am now the proud owner of a Caravan ( old 1990 Abi). I am a first time caravanner so it should be fun !.. :) At this moment I would like to retract all comments made about caravanners being a bunch of old ********s and ****s and all comments made whilst being stuck behind them. I now have to get some clip on mirrors for the Gal so I can see if I am being followed by a Merc or Beamer at which point ( as per the code ) I will drive down the middle of the road prohibiting them overtaking..... :31: i wonder if my old Tdi will be ok on the hills ?

It does sound like an immobiliser problem. You haven't changed the battery on the remote key and dropped the chip out have you ? Do you have any spare keys and does it start with them ?

Without knowing the exact details I can only look at the following. In your favour. External door locks and alarm ( basically a joke....complete design xxxx up ) easily overidden. Anti-theft PATS system...several methods for overiding this...all time consuming...eg several minutes....but all relatively simple. Mechanical steering lock.....easily forced but this does leave evidence....however skeleton keys may exist....not 100% on this. On top of this there is always the easy overide for all anti-theft systems......tow the vehicle away using a tow-truck.....unlikely...but still possible. The fact that the wires around the steering column had been pulled out would indicate foul play as it is unlikely that this would be your usual method of starting the car. Against you.... If as you say the steering lock had not been forced then this would indicate that a key of some sorts had been used. However this could have been obtained from a dodgy service company or even directly from the registration ( I am sure that the software exists to convert registration number to key number ). Against this however would be the value of the vehicle.....if you are going to plan to steal a vehicle then it is much more likely that this will be one of substantial value......no offence intended...mine is even older. From the evidence given and assuming that the steering lock had not been forced then it is most likely that a key had been used that had either been left in the vehicle or had been obtained from the house where the vehicle is parked.....this would be why the insurance company are sceptical. I would tell the insurance company to sort it out and if a key had been used then it must have been obtained either without your knowledge during a previous service ( etc ) or stolen from your house, again without your knowledge. Don't let them bully you ! -
Vagcom or similar would help in at least identifying that it is indeed the OS front sensor. Also it would then allow you to swap the sensor with another and see if the fault followed the sensor or stayed with the wheel. It is also extremely handy in identifying other faults and issues and worth having at the price.

Hi again, what spec & year is it, have you got a Mk1 ( like a real man :( ) or a Mk2 ( like a girlie :16: ).

I take it by "no expert" you mean at typing :( However I am inclined to think that you are correct and perhaps the wrong sensor has been changed. Bigmac.....are you sure the sensor was faulty ?

Have I missed something here ? Why is everyone slagging of Julesbyghia just because he has money. He makes some valid points in that if people did not buy new cars there would be no cheap second hand cars available for the likes of myself ( and others ) who cannot afford them to buy. Just because he has the money to afford these is not a good reason to have a go at him. The reason he posted is not to boast about his spending capability but to highlight the fact that new cars lose so much of there value in a short space of time. It was a good and interesting post and useful to some of the members on here who may have been thinking about buying a new vehicle for the first time. Julesbyghia,...The members who replied on this post are generally really kind and helpful and would not aim to offend anyone. However they can be right whingy miserable sods at times. Please feel free to post your apologies to Julesbyghia if you feel you may have overstepped the mark !
