96 Tonneau Load Cover Fit 02 Gal?
big_kev replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
The one for the Gals with rear heaters is 1293mm long the one for the Gals without rear heaters if about 5mm longer. If you do not have a rear heater then you can fit either although the short one will be a bit loose. If you have rear heater ( as the vast majority of gals do ) then you need the shorter one. However the longer one is quite rare. I would suggest going to vagcat.com and looking at the covers for the MK1's and the MK2's -
the fact that fuel used in a TDI has a lower calorific value and produces less heat output from the combustion process has little to do with it then ? diesel only produces 19.300 btu/lb compared to petrols 20.400 btu/lb when burnt hence why the TDI engine runs cool and needs the booster heater  Wolfie baby, your wrong the calorific value has little to do with it If that were the case then diesels would only be one twentieth as efficient as the petrol.......your missing the point. There is almost twice as much petrol used compared to a diesel, some of this petrol does generate additional power but the majority is wasted as heat.

This may help....ripped it from some German site....hence beware some items may be wrong hand drive.....and translations may be iffy. Page 18 look for the Abdeckrollo......there appears to be one version for the MK1 with rear heater/aircon.....and several for the MK2 with and without rear heater/aircon... Will get more info on the lengths of these but the VW part numbers should help. parts.rtf Lots of other useful parts info in there as well -
Yeh sorry ....I just love to wind BJ up.......the so you work for BT then...... really hit the note  What did MO4 edit out then....I missed that !

The galaxy TDi engines are so efficient that very little of the fuel is wasted as heat......hence good mileage compared to petrol. The downside is that because of this it takes forever and a day for the bloody things to warm up. Engines are designed to run hot and most of the wear takes place when they are below the optimum operating temperature. The booster is a simple little diesel heater fitted below the rear nearside passenger door.....you will see a little diddy exhaust down there. It helps to warm the water up so that the engine can reach its ideal operating temperature more quickly. Obviously as this same water is used to heat the passenger compartment it has the nice effect of helping you car to be warm in winter. It depends a lot on the type of driving you do as to the effect it will have if not working. If you do a lot of miles at speed then the engine will heat up reasonably quickly anyway and there will be little difference. If you do a lot of about town driving then it may never reach its ideal temperature and excessive engine wear will result.....plus it will be bloody freezing all the time. Hope this helps.

I suppose its ok if you can multi-task

95mph With A Faulty Maff
big_kev replied to Philwalfc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I would see if you can borrow one first it may not be the MAF, could be brake switch or relay problem. -
BJ Got any documentatiuon that was written in the last 10 years ? The "evidence" you are presenting is way out of date. Explain to me why Vegetarians are more likely to contract CJD then ?.........and dont say they are not .....look at the majority of people who have caught it......20 to 30 year olds......mostly veggies. Sheep get scrappie from the dodgy pesticide chemicals used in sheepdip.....this mutated to become BSE....now you know the source. Also just noticed you work for BT.....that explains a lot
-
Don't think I can comment on this either ! Probably makes me a B class one
-
First of all, thanks to El Dingo for the quotes.....kind of states the obvious...big yellow thing in sky explains why day is warmer than night. Secondly.....BSE.....get your facts right BSE is caused by the use of certain pesticides. Little known facts about BSE.....again I will state the obvious. Sheep get BSE....or the equivalent. Cows get BSE Humans get CJD...BSE equivalent ( strangely vegetarians are over 500 times more likely to contract it...check the facts this is true ). Anyone notice a pattern here....yep vegetarians. Common sense would dictate that it is therefore caused by eating vegetables not meat. More facts....the density of the occurences of outbreaks of BSE is consistent with the treating for Warble Fly with an organophosphate insecticide. I am reliably led to believe that there is a link with metallic trace elements as well and it is the compund of these...or possibly one acting as a catalyst that cause the disease. Another fact.....BSE in humans is more prelavant amongst young fit adults rather than older infirm adults or the very young. An extraordinary proportion of human cases of BSE have been in long term vegetarians and as this upsets the applecart the government dodgy scientists then decided that it must have a very long incubation period up to ten years or more as this would be the last time that the veggies ate meat. Strangely the people who consistently ate meat at that time and have done since are a lot less likely to contract the disease. Another theory put forward links it again with pesticide but with those used on the skin...ie sheepdip compounds and lotions sprayed on cows to remove ticks or lice....doesn't really fit in with the human vegetarian issue.....however could be linked if veggies are more prone to using insectide shampoos.... headlice etc. The warble fly issue seems more likely to me. All the sensible evidence points towards pesticides/insecticides as being the root cause. Anyone know the total headcount of people who have died from CJD/BSE in the UK in the last twenty years. It hasn't reached 200 yet......yes less than 200....less than 10 a year..... Hardly an epedemic is it !

Time does exist..........if it did not neither would parking meters !

As an honourary Geordie I find this offensive...... besides I dont get it......why didn't they give him another chance ?

I believe the scientific evidence which all ( not most, but ALL ) points to global warming being caused by the Sun. There is no evidence to suggest otherwise. If you know of any evidence which suggests that global warming is caused by anything other than the Sun please let me know. Also I thought Zebras were vegetarians ?
-
Wolfie Baby that was a bit harsh .................probably accurate though !
-
BJ, Your Polar Bears must be wimps then if they haven't eaten the Zebra ! plus I think Ivor's company may be ever so slightly biased and may not want people to seek alternative sources of fuel....and therefore will say anything to keep people thinking that there is an endless supply of oil and gas. I dont think they would want us to go like South America where most of the vehicles run on ethanol rather than fossil fuels....could be bad for business.

Id Like To Know What People Drive.
big_kev replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Thanks Pet, I knew there was someone cleverer than me out there who could do this. -
Don't know if anyone has done this before Could someone set up a poll to see which type of vehicles people have....Sharan, Alhambra, Galaxy etc. Thought it might give some insight into the real world proportions out there.. Apologies if this poll already exists...couldn't find it. I would do this myself but would probably b*gger it up

Almost verbatim for what wa ssaid about north sea oil...........that was a pack of lies as well.

And remember you will get more for the diesel when you sell it on
