On the MK1 the glow plug light doubles as the ECU warning light........basically if there is a problem with the ECU the engine runs like a bag of spanners and this will affect the Auto Box......I am assuming the MK2 is the same. The ECU is unlikely to be the source of the problem....they are pretty indestructible...more likely it is a problem with an associated circuit...relay...MAF...or brake switch. The intermittant problem would most likely point to an electro-mechanical fault and therefore I would be looking at a Relay or switch.
Don't worry Pet ......its only a car....nothing to be sad about. Its not as though its one of the kids leaving home. Actually I may have that the wrong way around.
The reason they do not return service exchange parts is because if you swap it with the new one you will find there is no difference and they have ripped you off. Does not just apply to PCM's but most other parts as well.
Remove the Radio....this gives you access to the screw holding the trim on. Remove the trim...this gives you access to the screws holding the Climate Control Unit. The ventings are all control by electric valves. What problems are you having with it ?
MO4 is correct. Interior switch illumimination will be brighter during the day and dimmer at night ( when you have your lights on it assumes it is night time ). Your dimmer switch is turned down very low, try turning it up.
Decided to hang onto mine for a while.........see how the job ( with the company car ....Golf...works out ). This probably means the Gal will get her annual clean.
You can use Vag Com but it will be limited to just some of the VW parts. For example your engine is a ford lump and will not be detected. Most of the rest of the car ( like the Alhambra ) is VW and should be ok.
Jesus, that's all we need another man hater/eater/baiter ( perm any one from 3 ) on the forum. Enough trouble from mum_of_many and the bird_in_the_mazza to not name but a few. Kev xx
