I'm Car Hunting......any Suggestions?
big_kev replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
This sounds like your type of car. Take it you won't be wanting my old jalopy then ? -
Ron. Holds on a moment............how many car's have you got....looks like 3 to me ! I can understand... 1 for you....1 for the wife.....what's the other one ? You got a bit going on the side...... :D

Start a new job on Monday....company car included. Sadly this may mean I have to get rid of the Gal......swmbo doesn't drive......can't afford to have 2 cars on the driveway. It is likely therefore that there may be a very good condition R reg TDi Ghia X up for sale some time soon. Watch this space....or more likely Ebay.

Just checked your DOB...same day different week. YOU OLD GIT.................. ;)

Happy Birthday Glen.........wish I was that young again !

Where exactly in the rev range the VW units power delivery comes in I do not profess to know, but the power band will still be across a narrow range of revs not a single point (such as 1800 rpm). Hence the use of the word "around" !

I think you will find that the torque in a Galaxy Diesel is around 1800rpm. The difference between a car and a commercial vehicle is that the windows are blanked out in a commercial vehicle. This strangely does not affect the engine torque. Don't get me started on this one......you think MO4 is bad when she's angry ;)

I can assure you that the NHS is struggling and is only kept afloat by the committment of its staff.

Range Rover....Shogun doesn't even come close.

Its better to brake using engine breaking....3 reasons for this. 1: Less wear on your breaks pads....mine have 50,000 miles on them and they weren't new when I got the Gal. 2: Breaking is more controlled.....and you have the option to accelerate again. 3: Much Much Much less likely to plough into the vehicle in front when your overheated brakes die. There should be no difference in fuel consumption if your foot is of the accelerator either way.

"Coil Light " ?............I assume you mean the Glowplug lamp flickering. Reading the post I think the main problem is the flat battery....it is not being charged. The most likely cause of this is the faulty, or incorrectly adjusted drive belt which as well as turning the power steering pump also turns the alternator which charges the battery ( shoot me down in flames guys if i am talking carp as usual). The flat battery will upset the Electronic Control Unit that runs your engine ( hence the flashing Glow Plug light ). Also other things will get upset with a flat battery/Dodgy Alternator such as the fuel pump and fuel cut-off valve. These may give the impression of a mechanical or fuel problem but are related to the flat battery. I would make sure that your drive belt is sorted first, before worrying too much about the other things.

Have you tried a VW dealer....probably nearer half the Fraud dealers price.

Might make a very slight difference in performance to a highly tuned racing engine....something that will do above 7,000rpm.....otherwise no difference...its a con.

My insurance has just been renewed and I am insured to drive anything else 3rd party.
-
LIke it also...might try that one. Usual high standard BJ

Sounds like something is badly wrong. I thought the 2 litre's ran red hot....I could almost light a fag of the dashboard in mine. Sounds like faulty thermostat or lack of water.

Don't waste them ! Slice up a baguette diagonally and fry slices at a high temperature in small ammount of olive oil until golden-brown. In another pan saute the slugs with crushed garlic to taste, taking care not to overcook or else they will become rubbery. Add a thin layer of crushed fresh tomatoes and chopped fresh basil to each slice of baguette and top with slug. Serve immediately. Personally I haven't actually tried this yet

Id Like To Know What People Drive.

Its interesting to see ( from the few people who could be bothered to vote ! ) that the vast majority of the users drive Gals. Only 1 Shazza out there.......I don't think so. -
The word that sprang to mind had 4 letters and began with C but it wasn't cool ! Can you do a version for us boys.......think naked ladies rather than hearts

I think you will find that the normal ones are legal for road use.........the rest probably are not

Pre-tensioners on Galaxys work fine.......had the bruises on my chest and shoulder to prove it......kinda negated the airbag going off though !

I would suggest you have a chat with the local planning officer and get the exact details as to their objections and/or suggested modifications. There is probably some daft regulations that they have to comply with ( like the per centage increase in the original houses living area ). Have a chat with the guy and see if you can get some more info from him. The large commercial plans nearly always get passed as there is that much money involved they can sling the council a few bob in compensation ( this is actually true and perfectly legal, although immoral ).
