There is very little difference in economy between a Auto and a manual. The stats will show the manual being more economic....however in practice the manner of driving vastly outweighs this. Most drivers of autos tend to drive a bit more sedately than manual drivers and as such will have better economy. Also you will find that the 2.3l is more economical than the 2.0l as the 2.0l engine is not powerful enough for the Galaxy and has to be consistently flogged whereas the 2.3l can be driven without the accelerator pedal constantly being on the floor. The V6 will have crap economy regardless of gearbox and the diesel will have good economy regardless of gearbox. My current gal is a diesel manual and I would gladly swap it for an automatic, much nicer to drive. The only benefit the manual offers over the auto is the much cheaper gearbox repair should it arise. If you get anyone saying a manual is better for any other reason ( other than racing ) ignore them, they have never driven an auto for any length of time.

I am pretty sure that there is no relay 30 on a V6 (apologies didn't read the post properly.now see that yours is a v6 ). I will try and track down some more info as to what the relay is called on yours. Any V6 owners out there ? -

It should be the relay with 30 written on it ! see here..... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...mp;p=68423& ..bit of a clue in figure 10 -
Never fitted a tow bar to a Gal, but IO have fitted reversing sensors and the feed for the reversing lights is on the offside. I would assume that the feed for a trailer would be this side also. Sorry it doesn't help much but should at least narrow it down to one side for you. Guys ! anyone else who can help ?

Do you mean the auxilliary heater above the nearside wheel arch ? Also which type of heater controls do you have, manual or automatic ?

I would take the rubber gaiter of the wiring loom as it passes from the body to the door and physically inspect the wiring, most likely one is partially broken and is high resisitance not allowing enough current for the motor to work

My suspension bottomed out around the 400kg mark. Added another 100kg and it did not appear to get any lower !

1.697 tons = the 1.5 tons I suggested earlier + the weight of my wife......see I knew I was right

This site is a lot more reliable than most other sites I visit. A couple of minutes glitch once every few months is not noticed. Keep up the good work

Well it's obvious you are neither a cyclist or a motorcyclist! Yep....lucky guess I think...you are correct I am neither a cyclist or a motor cyclist A more unbalanced and frankly worrying piece of invective I have probably not seen before. No idea what that means ? You feel that Motorcyclists/cyclists deserve to be killed - Just a tad extreme don't you think? Only a little tad extreme I agree that cyclists and motorcyclists can be stupid and ignorant but to label all of them suicidal and irresponsible is just totally unreasonable and unfair. Hmmm.......Hmmm........Nah ! It would be interesting for you to compare those stats with car drivers in the 17 - 21 year bracket - or even the 70 -80 yr bracket. So waht you are saying is that I am wrong to criticise cyclists who do this out of choice and you are right to criticise inexperienced drivers...which we all were at some time....and blind and decrepit drivers ....which we all will be at some time.......like the logic here Stats say what you want them to say they do not always represent the facts. Stats always represent the facts...its the type of facts they represent that can be misleading. It might also benefit you to look at the ratios of M/cycles/Bicycles on the road compared to cars - I know there are approx 30m cars but as to how many of the other there are I don't know, but I wonder if it works out as you say proportionally. Bad English, but good point....I will find out what this works out at...obviously there are a lot more cars on the road and I will see how many drivers are killed against how many cyclist. Remind me never to ride on two wheels anywhere near you!! Very good advice.......and can you pass this on to any other cyclists.

Which way did you try turning them......you will find one way is easier than the other
-
I apologize Radiotwo.......obviously not everyone apart from you knows who said it.

You're right, but a Galaxy weighs more than 1.5 tonnes, so towing 1.5 tonnes with a Galaxy is not illegal. I said tons not tonnes......I ain't gone into new money yet. A galaxy weighs around 1.5 tons...might have me maths wrong might be just under 1.6 tons ( not tonnes )
-
Thats strange I think everyone else does
-
I rest my case
-
It's not. I think you will find it is illegal to exceed the maximum towing wieght for a vehicle. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this ( assuming public road etc.....blah de blah de blah ). The reasons for this should be obvious but as some readers are having difficulty I will explain it. You will crash or cause a crash.......quite simple really.

Some useful statistics. Motor Cyclists are 25 times more likely to be killed in a road accident than a car driver....boy do some of them deserve this. Pedal Cyclists are 5 times more likely to be killed in a road accident than a car driver....lower than I would like to see. Contrary to popular opinion most accidents involving motor cycles are the fault of the cyclist......65% on all roads. However bear in mind than in a built up area 60% of the time it is the other drivers fault.... This shows you how bad the motor cyclists are in non-built up areas 95% the motor cyclists fault in these cases.... I will add more as the mood takes me

Probably the only sensible thing said on this column. Unlike the comment from someone that they stopped quicker whilst towing than when not towing.........yeah right ! Also please do not tow anything ( with its own braking ) over 1.5 Tons with a Galaxy it is illegal and very dangerous. Plus they do not have sufficient torque........no just kidding about that bit :16:

Seriously though.... very useful tutorial

I use WAP-PSK with my SSID hidden and only allow known MAC addresses. If I check available networks I can see 2 unsecured networks nearby and 1 secure one. All of these are displaying their SSID.

Doesn't check the sidelights only the head lights and tail lights.
