  10. vag-com will not talk to your ford engine,,,,,,,,,,vag-com is a vw/audi based tool,,,,,,mine is a late 98 model and the port is under the ashtray as bagpuss said

The little coil lit is your glow plug on lit,,,and this could be as simple as a faulty brake light switch :rolleyes: They managed to squeze you in,,,,,,,that means bring down today,,,we will look at it on friday and we will repair it on monday if we find the fault, and if we can be bothered you can have it back (not repaired and with more faults) in 3 weeks time, :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :D

The belt tensioner on the 2.3 model is self tensioning,,,,,,,,I have just changed the belt on my gal last weekend,,,,,,,,, get your gal on ramps, axle stands, or better a pit,,,,remove the undertray with a 14mm spanner, find the tensioner pulley apply the spanner to the nut and turn the tensioner clockwise, while applying the clockwise motion, remove the belt now postion the new belt on the pulleys and release the tensioner, and remove the spanner and refit the undertray this took me 30mins with the gal over a pit at work :rolleyes:
  13. Risky I know 'everyone's doing it', but that doesn't mean its legal. Ok - chances are slim that anyone is ever going to prosecute you, but it just takes one bit of bad luck. It may seem easier to take the quick, cheaper option, but they might just clamp down. Nah, you'll be fine

  15. Mine is a mk 1,,,,,and it has four screws and three clips holding it on,,,,,in fact one of the screws is behind the trim above the ashtray,,,,, I have changed the brake light switch and it is an easy 15 min job :huh:

  17. Is the aux belt not a one piece affair,,,,,,where the belt goes round all the pulleys,,,,,,,,
  18. Spray adhesive takes time to set,,,,,,,use double sided carpet tape,,,its 50mm wide,,,so fold it in two and stick it in place,,,,,,,,,,, :blink:
  19. Does the oil level light not come on when its well below minimum (on the dipstick marks),,,,,,,,therefore I would suspect the oil level light switch to be faulty :blink:

  25. There is clutch packs in the auto box,,,,and it makes it feel as it is slipping, like an ordinary manual box,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it also may need the ATF topped up :rolleyes:
