  1. NikpV - might go for that if I don't get any further!!! sepulchrave - hadn't even considered that!! Will look into it - as you do!! Thanks for the suggestions. Oggy.
  2. Have tried "Imation DVD+R" and because I have been having trouble have been trying more recently using "Misubishi Black Diamond DVD-RW". I have to say that I don't normally have any problems. I can't even write a single file that has been extracted from the image, could they be copy protected in some way? Any way to find out? Thanks for the responses. Regards. Oggy.
  3. To extract the files from the image I am using Magic ISO. To try and burn I am using Nero 7 (first) and then some freeware CDBurnerXP Pro Version 3. Both throw an error (different for each of the above but happy to post the log file, but its quite a read!!) early in the burn ie 6%. The DVD looks empty, but is unusable ie cannot burn to it again. Regards. Oggy.
  4. Hi All, I'm am struggling to write a particular set of files to a DVD!! Have tried various DVD makes. I have tried writing in various formats ie Joliet, UDF, ISO etc - not that I understand!! I have tried using different burning software. I should point out that normally I don't have a problem, it is just this particular set of files. All works fine if I just write say a set of MP3's that I have ripped myself but this is a downloaded Nero image file. I have Nero and it doesn
  5. MM, Many thanks for the reply. I will remove the radio, it will only take 2 mins. Thanks for the advice. Oggy.
  6. Hi All, Have just tested between pins 4 and 7 of the diagnostic port as per the Ross Tech site instructions and I have 10.4 volts which they say is inconclusive. As sourcing a 1 ohm resister is not easy in the rural south west I am wondering if anyone here knows whether vag.com is ok on my model Alhambra and a Panasonic CD-RDP383N Radio?? And if not will vag.com still work ok if I just remove the radio? Ta. Oggy.
  7. For what its worth I have read somewhere that in all but the coldest (below 5 C I think) the car will start without waiting for the glowplus to warm up! And to be honest there has been times when i have fogotten even when that is the case and the car has never failed to start firtst time!! (umm except when i filled it up with unleaded once!! :19: Cheers. Oggy.
  8. Yep, its as 3.5bullet says. That confused me for a bit. The fact that the climate control panel "seems" to allow cooling in the rear does not mean that the rear vent can actually deliver cooled air. For me the reat vent is heater only. I think the clue for dual climate (as it tends to be called) is roof vents. Cheers. Oggy.
  9. Well thanks for the replies and an interesting read. The situation though, was simply that the car smelt for a few days after my garage did some pressure testing and I think they used nitrogen. It may that they just pressurised it with air and the stink was what you would get out of any closed system that had been in use for 4 years and then sprung a leak(s). Work was done Monday and smell was noticed every time on entering car until today when it had gone as presumably whatever it was had finally all leaked out.. This is leading me to the conclusion that leak is somewhere with the cab which basically is bad. Not intending to do anything with it for a while. So far I have spent
  10. I have only just realised they have gone!! They used to be in the bit on the left!! I'll go and do it now! :23: Oggy.
  11. Dunno whether they did this time but they have in the past. First time i have ever noticed the smell though!! Cheers. Oggy.
  12. The emphasis being on pure!! Thanks for the reply. Oggy.
  13. Hi All, The leaking aircon system was pressure tested with (I think) Nitrogen. Couldn
  14. Umm .... is it me or do the top three all end up at the same article? Regards. Oggy.
  15. FYI, I have the Google pop up blocker working and am not having the problem. (I'm not disagreeing by the way!!) If it helps I am using Internet Explorer Version 6.0.2800.1106 on Windows 2000 Pro. Regards. Oggy.
  16. Ummmmm, thanks.
  17. Hi All, Because I would forget my own head if it weren
  18. Bit of a long shot but try briefly turning off your firewall and retrying. Regards. Oggy.
  19. If your PC stays up long enough try this! Post back on progress if you can!! Or need any help with what the article is saying you do!!! Best of luck. Regards. Oggy.
  20. Yeh, agree that it can't be power can it!!! Diving at 90 odd mph is not conducive to economical motoring. Efficiency sounds much more like it and 1900rpm too for the best mpg!! Cheers. Oggy.
  21. The car went in to try and find the leak. They could not find any UV dye anywhere so used some stuff with leak detector written to the bottle. It is some sort of sticky spray that forms big bubbles if over a leak. System filled with nitrogen and all suspicious areas sprayed and lo and behold a bubble appeared right very (alarmingly) close to where the pipe work goes through the bulkhead (Near point 1. on the above diagram). The technician later tried to show me the place but it was like looking into the black hole of Calcutta and I couldn

  23. That was the case for me too, but the dye was down the pipe a little from the fill point. Didn't take too much notice at the time but it turned out that it was in fact at a small hairline crack and was the source of the leak! Replacement pipe
  24. S'ok, it was typo really. You can find anthing with Google these days :D Oggy.
