  3. ibeen told from cister that skpang leads are ok as long as you have cetificate. but they dont work with v501 only 409.1 or earlier its all gobbledegook to me. have now tried the very latest bosch diagnostic machine and that the same as snap on cannot communicate with aux heater. luckily these checks not costing me but im not going to pay
  4. MANAGED TO CUT AND COPY MY LETTER AND REPLY FROM CISTER Thank you for your email. If you need a USB cable, you will be best suited with our "package D" - this is all you need to get running. Although our software and cable works with your vehicel, because it is a Ford and not a VW, it is deemed as 'not supported" by us in terms of help and support. So far we have sold units to many Galaxy and Cayenne owners without issue. Their owners have been able to communicate with the relevant aspects of their particular vehicle without incident. With regards SKPang, we understand that he is selling "illegal copies" of our hardware which contains "illegal dongles", possibly made in the far-east meaning that our software will recognise this and will render your cable usless with each software upgrade we release. Should you require anything further, please do not hesitate to contact us. Best wishes, The UK's largest authorised Ross-Tech agent for VAG-COM http://www.VAG-COM.co.uk Sales@VAG-COM.co.uk Cister Automotive PO Box 246, Witney Oxfordshire, OX28 3WE, UK ----- Original Message ----- From: martin blackett To: Enquiries@vag-com.co.uk Sent: Thursday, January 05, 2006 10:43 AM Subject: vagcom hi am needing the usb type of lead for a ford galaxy to use the vagcom. will any other lead be needed on thses cars.up to year 99. also i see i need to download from ross tech the software. im not a pc expert so is there any thing else to do to get connected to the car. what about the software registration is that needed, also i have seen a firm called skpang selling leads that connect to the ross tech and then become fully working is yours the same type of thing or better .its a bit confusing ! mant thanks martin
  5. http://www.vag-com.co.uk/ i pasted that from a firm called cister. i went to ross tech and looked at there official dealers in the uk i sent cister an email and thats the reply that came back. i was asking themn aboot the different leads and software , i dont know much aboot this subject.
  6. HI i got a reply from cister saying that if you buy there lead and software its not support afterward becuase you using it on a ford. also that skpang was selling illegal copies of there hardware and contained illegal dongles and that there software would know this and render the lead useless with each future software upgrade they relaese. thats more otr less what the letter siad. so im no happier now. it appears you buy a lead and still you may not upgrade in future or get into all the modules such as the aux heater.
  7. can that cheepo cable and shareware do things like testing the aux heater blower motor and fuel metering pump or will it just give faults ?
  8. all im wanting to do is get at this aux heater to check faults and clear codes and for future simple diagnostics. what u recommend ?
  9. from looking at it ross tech expect you to buy from one of there dealers in this country so you register and get support. it looks the same price ass the skpang unit so why would u get from pang if no support. i dont know.
  10. 17 quid to 170 is some difference. jeeez which do you buy ! the skpang says it turns the download from shareware to full , is it worth the extra. or do you get a cheep one and hope it works.
  11. hi mm whats the best lead thingy to get for this ross download i seen that skpang is

  20. his are 17.81 plus vat and postage which is dearer than ebay, when got mine there be no alternative for the beru , the ngk or wellman i think is a substitute for the other type of plug fitted , similar to an engine plug, but the 228 is classed as an industrial plug , i done 2 now and one had the cheep earlier type and one had the dearer one.
  21. the beru glow plug 0100 226 228 the more expensive plug , is on sale on ebay at
  22. oh yes hereas a brief run down for anyone going to do the job. it seems that some have it easy, i done two now and both taken 3-5 hours. unscrew exhaust bolt ,, shears off then exhausts falls from heater unit, needs welding back on 4  bolts holding bracket to body, 2 sheard off upper and lower mounting cage bracket bolts both sheard off. air inlet pipe totally fell apart. cant do job without reMoving unit, far easier to remove water pipes and take out very little water loss, just clamp em or bend and tie wrap clamped water hoses and removed the unit all top screws to fan rusted away , had to hacksaw em off. all four body bolts to get to glow plug rusted away two allen bolts had to drill out got inside swop plug re aaemble tested old glow plug and it burnt red, have i wasted me time!!!!!!!!!!! put new one in anyway. drill out cage bolts to put new ones in put back together started at 11.45am finished at 4.45pm three tea breaks 5 mins each did job at local bus garage , any tool on hand. pity any poor sod doing job outside with few tools hear endeth the lesson. BEWARE, IT NOT EASY.
  23. thanks m.m i shall get it decoded next week ands try again.
  24. hi again, after spending 5 hours changing the glow plug and it not firing up i wonder if its got disabled by the ecu as it appears on here that after 5 non starts that is what happens, in that case would i still be getting the voltage readings on the block connector on the aux heater unit the wires are showing 14 volts with engine running , would the voltage be there is it had been disabled ? the thing is totally dead but with lives going in to it. thanks
  25. whatsa the obd2 socket then ? i put in new glow plug, there is fuel at the pipe but still she wont fire up ??? any ideas what to do next ? thanks
