Summer Check On Aux Heater
marinabrid replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
its a small round sensor about the size of your thumb end on a bracket attached to the wiper likage arm in front of the pollen filter just unclip it from the wires and bridge the contact wires with a small mini fuse and hey presto if its working your booster heater will fire up at all times till the water is hot even in summer. -
well i thought it be a good idea to bridge the terminals on the temp sensor and see if the heater would fire up after months of none use. a good idea in case its cream crackered to giet it sorted it the dry rather than wait for the cold. i thought it wasnt going to but then it splutterd and #*"ted into life with a billow of smoke, just thought id pass my sunday doings on. i also got some mesh and tarted up the upper and lower grill and now the wife says it looks cool, i can have a special treat tonight. ive had some cider instead. hic nite all.

have you got a photo of you work behind the grill daddycool i like to see how a pro has done it b4 i have a go on sunday thanks

Clock For Aux Heat
marinabrid replied to marinabrid's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
LET HE WITH THE INFO COMETH FORWARD BE A GOOD IDEA TO DO IT WHEN WEATHER NICE -
2nd question after reading the threads on air con it seems a good idea to leave it on most of the time, does this not overwork any of the bearings or motors or anything else causing early failure. also if the car is turned of after a run with aircon still switched on does that matter ? or shuold it be switched off. just wondered if affected anything when the starter was engaged thanks
-
ow do all 98 1.9TDI on looking at the tis disc and the info on the aux heater unit it seems to say that their is on some models a clock that can switch the heater on before you get in, so you have some heat there, is there a mod available for the standard unit to convert it or has someone clever done it already, or have i misread the thing. CHEERS
