Depends how much "technical ability" you have A number of posts on the forum talk about changing headlight bulbs, if you do a search then you will find lots of opinion as to whether you completely remove the headlight unit before changing a bulb, or take the back off the unit and then change the bulb with the light unit still in situ. Personally i prefer the first method. Usually take around 20 minutes per light unit to remove, change bulb and replace

Clutch Pedal,cant Get Gears?
davewill replied to andrew welsh1958's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Andrew It still sounds as if the master or slave cylinder are knack'd It's either a big DIY job, or get it to a garage for them to assess and then barter the price as best you can Regards -
Clutch Pedal,cant Get Gears?
davewill replied to andrew welsh1958's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yup, agree with both the above posts My 2002 Gal Tdi with 80,000 miles developed exactly the same fault Couldn't get any gears, unless i forced clutch pedal up with my left foot Took it to the local Fraud dealers who told me the gearbox rods needed replacing :D Did those and charged me -
Thought i would check with the Fraud dealer in Telford on what they think the mileage should be for the Cambelt change Mine is a 2006 Mkll 1.9TDI 115BHP After much checking she confirmed the belt needs to be changed every 60,000 miles or 5 years Good news for me

OK, firstly many thanks to Bleeno for taking the time to help me fit the new 6006E unit Turned out that the 6000 model has more connectors than the 6006E so you actually only need to connect the two long ones. The small square plug and yellow one don't do nothing. Once fitted the CD came up with E 3 Error Upon arriving home Bleeno had PM'd me with this problem re Mum (of 4) So whipped the top off, and no CD stuck inside, but the CD mechanism was stuck up on one side Gently eased it down so that it was level, switched on and Load CD came up Loaded all 6 CD's with no problem, and all was well <_< Thanks once again to Bleeno, and Mum of 4 with her suggestions. I am truly greatful Regards Dave

Hi Bleeno Being local to me i hope you can help Have bought a 6006 CD Multichanger unit to replace the standard 6000 I understand these to be "plug and play" however the connections on the back of the 6006 are totally different to 6000 unit I have taken two photos of the connections on the back of the units, but being challenged in IT can't seem to upload them :angry2: Any help gratefully received Thanks Dave

Looking to replace my standard 6000 CD with a 6006 (6 disc unit) Does the 6006 play CD/RW discs or does it only take the "real" CD's into the 6 cubby I ask this because i think i read somewhere that CD/RW disks are thinner than "real" CD's, and the 6006 gets the thinner ones stuck within its mechanism? Thanks Dave

Could this not be the dreaded water pump impellor problem?? My problems in this area followed a similar thread First of all no heat coming out from heater unit After a week of this the temperature guage started to creep up into the "overheat" zone A few days later car was overheating Inspection by Frauds showed that impellor had fallen off, however i assumed that it had taken a couple of weeks to do so, and in the meantime it was still pumping some water around the system New water pump (+ cam belt change) solved the problem and relieved me of

One of the kids flicked the little switch on the front of the radio, and the security 4 button thing came out I put it back in but hey, the radio now wont even come on  Any suggestions on why this might be? On my previous Gal, if the security unit was taken out and then put back the Radio worked fine, but on this model it don't its a 2006 Mkll model Gal with standard Radio / CD unit Thanks

I find it easier to remove the whole headlight unit than fiddle around under the wheel arch You need to "manufacture" a long thin screwdriver, to get to the two "bolts" that are at the bottom of the light fittings Don't remove these altogether, as putting them back is near impossible, just loosen for one turn Remove the other three "bolts" (they have the star fitting on top) and then wiggle and slide the light unit out Click off the back plate of the light and then pull out the sidelight, replace with new and reverse the operation Quite easy really Regards

Hope the by-pass surgery cures your current "rattle", and that you make a full and speedy recovery.

I bought a new one about 3 years ago, as on the Gal i had, the steering wheel black covered surface was coming off, and basically it was manky. This Gal had been driven by a woman from new, and i always wondered if she used hand cream before driving, and whether or not it was this that had "destroyed" the steering wheel ?? Anyway as the car was under warranty when i got it, i complained to the Fraud dealer, and they agreed to go half on the cost of a new one Cost me about

Definte Impellor fallen off problem Same happened to me on 52 plate TDI For Frauds to do it, means new waterpump, new cambelt (as cambelt has to come off to change pump) and a bill of around

That the plastic cover on the rear windscreen wiper arm has come off When the water comes out to wash the rear window, instead of going up hill onto the window, it goes straight back and straight into anyone behind me ;) Nearly took the paper boys eye out today, as he was following close behind What do i need to ask for when i go into Frauds, Thanks

Brighter Headlight Bulbs
davewill replied to davewill's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for info so far I changed the standard bulbs on my 2002 model for brighter ones and did notice a big difference in terms of distance of light improvement, and a whiter light. Only problem was i forgot to remove these and replace with original bulbs before i traded it in ;) That was 4 years ago, and i can't remember which bulbs i bought, hence the question I had hoped the 2006 model would have improved the "brightness" of the headlights, but i still find them to be of a yellow glow, and distance in front of the car for the light beam is poor (and i have tried the up and down headlight adjuster roller thing by the steering wheel) Any other thoughts please post Thanks -
I want to change my standard Headlight and Main Beam bulbs to the "Brighter ones" as even though i now have a 2006 Mkll model, the lights are still dim  I know that it is H7 for dipped beam and H1 for Main beam but which make do you recommend I have seen Phillips H7 Premium @
