I drilled a hole thru the nylon base and bottom of the ball, then used a self tap screew to hold the ball joint together. You need to leave the screw long so as to get some movement in the ball. So far so good! May not be a long term fix, time will tell.

I have the TIS CD and use it mostly as reference. It is frustrating that there is no 'search' fuction on it! At least it gives enough info so that the stealerships can't give you the runaround. For a few quid it's a must have, IMO.

Did the same thing for a while with the rubber band - not a very elegant solution  What did the stealership run you on that repair? I'm just replacing the rubber band, again!

Easy NikpV, I added those details after the headsup from Dave-G :(

How Do We Add Pictures To A Thread?
Nick replied to Nick's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
When I tried to insert IMG with the path to the picture I got the error message: Sorry, dynamic pages in the tags are not allowed Where am I going wrong? ...... Ah! got it! The ball joint in question (see post 'wiper linkage) is on the left hand side of the pic in the red circle. -
Dave-G, thanks for pointing that out. I have a '97 1.9 TDi Ghia X FORD GALAXY. I'd be interested to hear how you fixed yours. There may have been a bit of a clue in that we are in the Technical Section (Galaxy)!

How is this done on this board please?

http://C Anyone had the wiper ball joint fail on the drivers side? How did you fix it? Ford want over

Just changed my front disks and pads. No problems. You'll need the 18mm socket for the caliper mounting. I used a little copper grease on the back of the new disks to ease removal next time.Out of interest I paid

The 'hidden' tow bar is a factory fit option from new. If you didn't order it you won't have the cut in in the bumper. The ball hitch for this option is stored in the RHS panel, below the CD changer.

Wiring Loom Too Short Through Tailgate
Nick replied to Buncers's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
What year is you car? Mine is a '97 and I have had a number of wires go the same way you describe. There is no slack in the loom at all. I've used the in-line crimps that repair and add that little extra length. -
PD? Sorry to be thick.

I have the Garmin and I know you can enter a camera location as a waypoint and then set proximity alarms on. I think there are some web sites that will sell you a file of pre-entered camera locations. It's more the mobile cameras that will get you nowdays!

My '97 TDi just tuned over 172,000. Should be in good shape now that's it run-in B) Nick

So is Castrol GTD Plus good enough for a 90hp Galaxy? It says it's a 10W40 and meets or exceeds SAE 10W40; API CF and ACEA B3...
-
Thanks for that Nige. I'm going to hire a set with the hope that I don't need to fit them!

From what you describe it can olny be a function of the a/c compressor, or it's magnetic clutch? You say they changed the air con unit which must be the compressor, and that's the only 'moving' part in the system. You may need to get somone to help you locate the drone to be sure. It may be that when they changed the unit they did not refil with the right amount of air con oil!

I saw that Fred, but it didn't explain why?! Looks likethere's plenty of clearance around the wheel arch and suspension? It's not practicle to buy 4 new wheels and tyres just for one ski trip! I may just hire some chains and hope I don't need them.

Has anyone tried putting snow chains on the Galaxy with 215/60/15's? For some reason the owners manual says n/a??

The web site - www.daytripper.net - does not work?

Depends how you drive, I average 40mpg per tank full. I got 63mpg out of it on one trip when the tanker drivers were on strike!

The seat heaters come in 'pads'. 1 for the bottom and 1 for the back. easy to check them withan ohm meter. Don't know about costs.
