Flywheel, Clutch, Gearbox?
Bigjeeze replied to Verbal's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
There is no cable for the clutch it is hydraulic. There is a gear selector cable but this is virtually unknown to have faultson the MK2. I can't think of any other parts you will need to change apart from those mentioned. As I said it is a very heavy gearbox. You can change the gearbox oil at the same time - but it is a sealed unit and should last at least 100k before needing a change. I haven't chnaged mine at 180k as yet and still going strong. ( Perhaps I shouldn'nt have said that!!). -

Better still go onto the internet and look for Car Batteries - Most sites have a finder that you input either your registration number or the cars details ie model etc and it tells which battery is for you. They can alsp deliver inclusive in the price Usually inclusive of 3 year warranty.. I would think around the

Flywheel, Clutch, Gearbox?
Bigjeeze replied to Verbal's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I replaced my clutch @ 138K. I changed everything , the driven plate, the pressure plate and the flywheel. I wasn't sure that the flywheel was knackered but as no one could tell me that it was OK I decided to change it anyway. That was 2 years ago - It cost around -

Take the wheel arch liners off and clean all the crap out. There is no easy way and it will pay dividends. -

A man goes into the doctors feeling a little ill & the doctor checks him over and says, 'Sorry, I have some bad news, you have Yellow 24, a really nasty virus. It's called Yellow 24 because it turns your blood yellow And you usually only have 24 hours to live. There's no known cure so just go home and enjoy your final precious moments on earth.' So he trudges home to his wife and breaks the news. Distraught, she asks him to go to the bingo with her that evening as he's never been there with her before. They arrive at the bingo and with his first card he gets four corners and wins

P-reg Galaxy Window Problem.. Help Required Please.

It might also be a problem in the control box. If yours is a MK1 then it could be mounted under the passenger seat and got wet. -

13 Years Old And Still Going Strong
Bigjeeze replied to seatkid's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I've hads my MK1 since 1997 ( a company car i then bought in 1999) and it's still going strong at 149K miles. My Mk2 I got in 2002 and bought in 2005 (again bought the company car) asnd this is now 10 years old with 180k miles. Mind you it failed the MOT today on ARB links - rubber covers perished, Rust near the suspension mounts - the joke of which is where the tester marked the rust in yellow chalk is as solid as a rock but about a foot away the box section that is the jacking point has a hole and needs repairing. Also failed on top suspension mount and apparently my rear indicator bulbs are too orange so as to appear red!!. So I'll need to do some welding. -
Alternator Problems?
Bigjeeze replied to DougJones's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You'll have to wait for the more knowledgeable on the site but I think it seems quite normal. I don't think that that amount of fluctuation is a problem. What if any other issues or problems do you have? If the alternator is on the way out then surely you would notice other faults. One thing does spring to mind. Check the alternator pulley - that may be starting to sitck. Do a search and you'll see what I mean. -
CAlm down and wait a while before disappearing off! I know there have been problems but thios site has been around a long time and most of that time it has been fine so give Glen a chance. It may be that we need to donate some money to help with the expenses. Patience chaps , patience!

You say that you get the sound of the fan and the tapping ( metering pump) so it could be that it is working. Does the temp gauge go up to the 90 degree mark? Before taking it out and stripping - take it out for a half hour run and see if a) the temp comes up and :) if the interior gets warm. If its working then ;leave the strip down until the weather moderates.
