Blowing Sound From Near Rear Wheels
GSMGuy replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Brian, that is just it working normally.... At least yours does!!!! Mike -
Should work on the whole car - it is just a rebadged VW after all! Mike

Mr T, was going to order the interface from Ross Tech in the states, but TBH, it's coming out around the

AFAIK, it will work on the whole vehicle. On a slightly different note, what is the best option for getting VAG-COM, is it to buy a lead from say, Ebay, and then reg the software - ot=r buy the whole kit, and if so, which kit?? Mike

Just a quick note on the HDi v TDI (specifically PD vers) My last 3 cars, a 406, 307 and Picasso have all had the HDi motor - all were bought new.My current car is a 2 year old Gal TDi 115 Zetec auto with 50k on her - all cars have been fitted with Speedbuster tuning boxes... IMHO, the TDi motor is MUCH smoother and a hell of a lot more torquey than any of the HDi's - regardless of the BHP, it is also quieter, and smoother... I won't be having another french car for this, and one other reason - The build quality on French cars is totally CRAP - things fall off, stop working or just bloody rattle and squeak to annoy you! HTH Mike

Ivor - is the reprogging done through the diagnostic? If so, can VAG- COM be used? Mike
-
ChrisH - Any update on the vag-com, where did you get the cable btw? Mike

Well, my breath is well and truly baited now... Mike

Ditto with mine - I have dual electrics and a Wtter detachable hitch - doesn't cause any probs when on, and accuracy of sesors is still spot on. Mike

MM - Please keep us informed on the progress of your work... I for one would be very interested in the results... Maybe worth starting a new thread?? Mike

Aux Heater Fix (tapping & White Smoke)
GSMGuy replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
MM - take it it was, BUT, when fiting the Cruise Control a couple of weeks ago, took the opportunity of getting hold of the sensor (it's clipped to the wiper mech arm) and plunging it into ICE - a meter confirmed that the switch had closed, had the motor running and still no Aux heater.. Mike -
Well, keep us posted on the outcome and poerformance... Mike

Aux Heater Fix (tapping & White Smoke)
GSMGuy replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hmm.. 3.0deg outside tonight, so thought I'd take it for a run to see just what all the fuss is about.... Nothing, no noise, no smoke, and no bloody heat from it either... Did 5 miles and the heater was getting warm inside, but on the 3 occasions I stopped, the Aux heater was stone cold and silent... So looks like I have a fault.. Will it show up on diagnostic? If not any hints on where to start? Mike -
Lol - show's how well up on the regs some MOT inspectors are then! Mike
-
Back onto the topic... Lol - Have now covered 240 miles mainly in town and the gauge is not yet down to half... Mike

Are you talking about just replacement "lookalike" bulbs or the full kit with ballasts and ignitors for the new lamps? I have used several good makes of the former, and whilst they give a whiter brighter light, don't be fooled as they are no comparison to the real thhing for an improvement in visibility - also they do not last nearly as long as regular bulbs... Proper HID kits on the other hand are VERY bright, only use 35w per bulb and should last for the life of your car... However - it is LAW in the UK that HID lamps can only be fitted in conjunction with an AUTOMATIC headlamp levelling system to prevent dazzle - A manual adjustment system is not acceptable under the construction and use regs.. Mike..

Possibly something out of alignment? And when the belt is cold and shorter it can'f follow the path the pulleys want it to - when it warms up, and stretches a little it can?? Sounds feasable - but one thing for certain - I would not be even running the motor until it is sorted! Mike
-
The airbag was probably the easiest part!!! Just disconnect the Neg lead from the battery, and use a 6" screwdriver to lever the clips one at a time - comes off really easy! Mike PS the steering wheel need NO special tools, just the correct size bit and some threadlock for when you put it back on!
-
Nope, definately motor actuated and controlled! Mike

Bet they give a 10% loss of grip too! Mike

Could be worse.. You could actually OWN a Kia!! Mike
-
Why would Ford want to pay for repairs to a Kia?? On the subjuect of Kias, my Father in law had a Sedona TD, which has just thrown a rod @ 25000 mile - it's an 04/04 car, and Kia have rejected his warranty claim, as the last (Dealer) service was 127 miles overdue!!!! Mike
