  1. Does anyone know how to identify my engine, is it an AFN ot ANU engine, how can I find out ? I have been offered an engine cover, but can't find the relevant identifying mark. It apparently fits only the Tdi ANU model engne, but never heard of this before.
  2. Pad sensors should let you know when they are down to last few hundred miles. Thats when I tend to change mine anyway.
  3. This can apparently be done successfully, as a mate of mine recently claimed back over

I know, I know, BMW drivers are probably some of the worst around, and the cars are so common, but this is one incredible machine. http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/pricesandspecif...Ek%253D,00.html

I agree with you on the Range Rover Sport, that and the BMW M5 are the two only cars I actually get slightly envious over when I see them ! They are my two most desirable, first to buy, lottery win, fairly realistic, maybe in the future type cars. One day, arrrhh one day, maybe just maybe...................... :D
  6. True, but nevertheless it shouldn't do that at any speed. I'd get it checked asap, what if it happened to a rear door instead whilst a kid was leaning on it ?? Its been unfortunately known for a child to slip out of a seat belt when falling side ways out of a door thats opened. :)
  7. Spent an hour swapping the very dirty old pollen filter for the new Ford one (what a ball ache !), I noticed Ford filter was a lot thicker and better made than the 'oem' part I put in a year ago. It was however bone dry, maybe dried out. The drains appeared clear, however there were a few leaves that I cleared away from the drain holes and scuttle area, although after clearing out and swapping pollen filter all the windows are staying clear now, so problem solved somehow, plus another year before I have to swap that bl**dy pollen filter again ! :(
  8. I had a similar recurrent problem with my wifes car, I just took it to another dealer after getting fed up with poorly trained mechanics at my local dealer, I didn't mention anything about it being to another dealer. They started the repairs from scratch and repaired the fault immediately. Sometimes it just needs someone in the know, a more experienced mechanic. Try a different dealer, but don't mention anything about the other issues with previous dealer. They are after all obliged to repair yours under warranty.
  9. I'll definately take a look at that tomorrow, how would it get wet, its been installed for over a year and remained dry, however I do have a new one, so I'll swap it anyway and test the usual trouble spots. Thanks
  10. wasn't a mate then :23: Unfortunately not ! :)
  11. I've read all the posts regarding water leaks, the windscreen and the rear window are both heavily misting up and there's quite a lot of moisture on them too when I leave it longer than about an hour. I have checked all over the interior of the Gal, but there doesn't appear to be any damp carpets, anyone any ideas ? Its only started doing it since a couple of days ago after heavy rainfall ? :)
  12. 3 points on mine, for doing 93mph on motorway. Fair cop I suppose, but officers discretion should be a bit more tolerable, and judged on the merits and experience of drivers more. I could have taken it to court, but not worth the hassle, as I was breaking the speed limit.
  13. The bulb failure light will always remain illuminated until the break pedal has been pressed to check the operation of the break light bulbs. Its supposed to do this.
  14. Re: Central locking query: Don't forget when the engine is running, the boot lid only opens with the drivers door open. A security feature. Mk2.
  15. Got mine through Direct Line, they sent me a renewal of
  16. So if your climate control is always on 'auto' like mine, does it mean the AC is still switching on and off, even though temperatures aren't high enough ? I thought the A/C compressor would only switch on if it needs the blast of cold air to get the cabin temperature down ?
  17. Well its alright for some, I actually did a full days work and finished at 10pm....... :( 2 days off now though. :ninja: Wifes taking me Christmas shopping though. Prefer to be working. :ninja:
  18. Its that time of year again when most of us aren't using our air con at all, heres a reminder to go out and run it on cold for at leat 5 minutes to avoid an expensive bill for a seized compressor come spring/summer 07. :) This should be repeated regularly. Just trying to save forum members some cash in the new year !
  19. I think my 'fullrun' tyres are made up of old recycled rubbers in China. But the grip from them is staggering compared with the Dunlops I used to have on. I've done some significant DIY tests on cornering in both dry and wet and they just don't break away at all. At

  21. I got both drive shafts replaced at 57k just in warranty paid for in full by Ford, but it does seem like poor mechanical design for them to go so early. Apparently the replaced parts are of better quality after they were improved due to premature failure on many models, but only time will tell.
  22. for distortion free light gathering ability the glass/lens used in phone camera cannot compete with most normal nikon lenses - and while we are at it the size of the sensor in the phone camera will make it much 'noisey' in low light situations - without even considering the merits of the autofocus. - if indeed the phone is actually autofocus and not just a fixed focus small aperture (giving huge dof) Aha, thanks for the explanation. Yes the Nikon does have its benefits ! It wasn't really a direct comparison, just the snap shot ability, that has improved dramatically in the past year with camera phones. Who knows, maybe one day it will be an all in one device capable of Nikon SLR type quality, with CCD chip design getting more advanced by the day.
  23. Not sure what you mean ???
  24. Yep, this is my key and its contents, I just checked that there was a chip in it as suggested.
  25. Yep, 3.2 mega pixel, auto focus etc, seems more like a camera with a phone as extra ! Not so good in dark conditions, but during the daytime it takes photos that would put my professional Nikon D2Hs to shame sometimes. Highly recommended phone: http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?lo...&country=GB
