Latest Feeling On Tyres?
jkspoff replied to Mikef's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Have you had the brake disks/pads checked? Could be that one front disk is slightly warped? Have you had tracking checked also? Thanks, I will check out the pads/discs, tracking/wear seemed ok on the old tyres, no uneven wearing, would the tracking cause this type of effect ? -
Latest Feeling On Tyres?

Hi, Woodman, welcome to the forum, feel free to contact me/us for advice on the gal any time. ;) Mytyres stated that the tyres were in stock when I placed the order, and would be delivered within 5 days, this turned out to be 3 weeks, then I cancelled order. My new Fullrun tyres from ebay seem ok, however there is still the same slight tremble/wobble through the steering (like an unbalanced tyre) that I had with the Dunlops, anyone else experienced this. The tyres are balanced correctly as I've had them checked, anything else it could be ? -
I have exactly the same problem, I have 2 remote keys that are programmed and work fine, but I also have a master none remote key that doesn't work in the ignition, I have tried every single method, both on this forum and from the manual, none of which work. I suspect he is having the same issues. Anyone know of a company other than Frauds that will do this for us ?

I have had Warranty Direct now for 2 years, many claims have gone through with them, no problems at all in any of the claims, just make sure you keep your service history invoices etc. Keep hanging on a while and they will eventually get the price down to what I pay,

Yep, I'll have a mouse mat Gteuk please, can you take payments through PayPal when they're available ? Thanks.

My dealer wasn't even aware of the auxillary booster heater, when I enquired whilst it was on the ramp having something else done, they scratched their heads and said 'no idea what that is mate'. I was testing them on their knowledge which was obviously very limited, never been back to that garage again ! :P

Does sound like a turbo failure, I don't believe the remap would have caused this, however it does put slightly more pressure on the engines components as to be expected, so if the turbo was on its way out anyway, then this could have caused it to go prematurely. I have never heard of an ECU remap causing any type of obvious engine component failures though, and I know of quite a few people who have very high mileage remapped cars with no issues whatsoever. Your car is the same year and almost same mileage as mine, same engine, bhp etc, have you had it on a rolling road to see what the BHP increase is ? Who did your remap ?

I have cancelled my order this evening with mytyres, after waiting 3 weeks they still stated that they cannot tell me a delivery date. Been on ebay and found a business seller with good priced new tyres, guarantees delivery within 3 days, ordered x2 Fullrun 215,55,R16 VR extra load for -
Latest Feeling On Tyres?

I have still not received my tyres from 'mytyres', rang them lots of times, eventually get through to foreign call centre, now been waiting 3 weeks. They tell me that their supplier is out of stock, but they've not offered any alternatives, or told me this without me having to contact them. Poor service, with no communication other than from me by phone and email. Poor service, won't use them again or recommend them, but yes they are cheap. Still waiting as prices hard to beat. -
Galaxy Just Been Serviced - Possible Wrong Oil?
jkspoff replied to a topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeah, I've had same problem at main dealers, they have no idea about 505.01 oil, they use oil from a standard 'all for one' oil drum bought in bulk. Numpties they are the lot of them. Get it changed asap, bet they've put too much in too ! Do what I do and DIY, using oil extraction the easy and no mess way, then you can guarantee correct oil, and correct amount. -
How Many Parts Have You Had To Buy?
jkspoff replied to Vanbursta's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thats an interesting theory, and one that would be worth looking into further. As my dealer has stated that 8/10 galaxys have had new compressors fitted, I wonder if its a Ford modified part design failure. -
Just out of interest, did anyone on here do the JD Power survey for the Galaxy ? If you did, was it mostly positive or negative to the survey questions ? I for one rate it highly for being the best all round car I've ever owned or driven, yes it needs some money throwing at it now and again, but I believe it more than makes up for this, and why not throw other peoples money at it, i.e. warranty companies. (warranty costs

The latest results from JD Power Survey (2006) seem quite surprising really, I know the Gals had its faults, but I didn't think it was all that bad compared with other models (105th - last), click to enlarge the table. I know its only to be taken with a 'pinch of salt'. http://www.whatcar.com/NonCar/8666102471.jpg or http://www.whatcar.com/NonCar/8666102470.jpg

I would like to, but I have a few concerns over whether its allowed. If you do a google image search on 'police galaxy' it does show quite a few forces are using them too.

Good result, eventually ! Glad to hear that at last someone got one over a main dealer, who are all by my reconing totally useless and very unknowledgeable and unhelpful, as a result this has apparently led to a larger proportion of customers using independent garages over the past 3 years, and if you believe in statistics, its now 38% of customers don't return there new car to the garage they bought it from, since a vehicles warranty on all new cars is now widely known to be valid at any VAT registered garage, and having a full dealership service history stamped book is no longer looked upon as being a financial benefit for used values.

Its a 53 plate mk2. Only one we have I believe, very practical for all the gear. The force has a bio-diesel only policy now for most replacement vehicles.

I had the pleasure of driving my force's V6 Galaxy yesterday. Lights up like a Christmas tree, lights everywhere, even a secondary battery in it to operate all the gizmos. The performance was stunning for such a large lump, we responded to several 'immediate' calls in the area and I have to say its quicker than the usual diesel Astras we normally use. I've never driven the V6 Galaxy as mines a tdi, although that is quick now its been remapped to 150+bhp. The only down side was the fuel economy, after driving just under 100 miles, it had used half a tank of fuel. Back to reality next week with the usual Astra diesel. :)
