June 29th for those who want to see it at the cinema ! http://www.shrek.com/main.html

Thanks for the excellent advice and recommendation, you've both helped make my mind up for me, I am now certain that its what we want. Just looking at another couple of caravans on ebay classifieds before we return to the dealer. We look forward to our first outing as caravanners. :P
-
Oh, and just one other thing, not got a tow hook, anyone know of the best place to get one fitted ?
-
We have just been looking at caravans and have seen a Bailey 556/6 with a Bradcot Vantage awning (must mean something to someone :P ), its priced about 8k, and is a 2004 model, anyone any experience with these caravans or the like before we take the plunge ? What I am mostly concerned about is manoevering it at a camp site, how easy is it, as I have never even reversed a trailer before ! or do you actually very rarely need to reverse it ? I would really appreciate any advice on towing and general day to day living with a caravan, the kids are really excited about it, but I'm a bit dubious, as its a whole new unexpplored world for me :P . How often do you use yours and how much does an everage weekend away cost you ? Sorry lots of questions, but I may go buy it this week. Thanks

I'm Car Hunting......any Suggestions?
jkspoff replied to mumof4's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
I don't mean to be too harsh, but don't be too critical on the things that maybe wrong with it, as any second hand car that costs sub -
They charge it because people pay it ! Company car/van owners mainly, they really don't care where they buy their fuel from or how much it costs. It's unfortunate that we live in a country of lazy people who can't be bothered to shop around for better value, therefore demanding better prices elsewhere.

Quite normal for flat performance before the turbo kicks in, I recommend getting it remapped, the turbo can be reprogrammed to come in earlier and for longer if required. The following company can do it for you: www.chipboost.com

Although the subject has been covered as you mention, I tend to get around 33-38mpg around town and up to 50mpg on a long run, what speed are you travelling on the motorways, if its over 75 then the fuel economy is cut by about a third. Also, have you had AC turned on or off ? You should average overall about 40mpg.

Definately the Range Rover, the Shogun is too stereotyped the wrong way, if you follow what I mean !

AA man seemed to think not, providing the battery is relatively new and its warm weather, I let it charge for over an hour before switching off.
-
OK, panic over ! AA came out and charged battery, it was down to 2 volts ! It was still draining during charge, we checked all interior lights etc and was baffled for a moment, then I remembered..........the after market DVD player was still plugged in to the rear 12 volt socket, it was pulling 4 amps constantly, arhhh, all my fault after all !! At least it didn't cost anything !
-
OK, I've managed to open the passenger side door and get under the bonnet, newish battery is completely dead. No idea why, but all instruments etc gone off, so not any amps from it.

Just gone out to the Gal this morning and the immobiliser light on the drivers door is lit permanently, all the doors are locked and nothing I do will open any of them, tried manually unlocking them and tried pressing both remote keys, but absolutely nothing happens. Has anyone got any ideas before I ring the AA, as I am certain they will have to 'relay' it to a main dealer, as they are not too up on immobilisers etc. Help ! Any advice at all please............

Will This Fit Galaxy ?
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Anyone any idea what problems I may have trying to fit the DVD/Monitor above ? -
Excellent ebay once again ! I got a brand spanking new VW Tdi engine cover delivered yesterday, Gals never had one fitted since I bought it, fitted perfectly and looks loads better now, I always wondered what those protruding metal things with rubber ends on were for next to the engine, now I know, they fit into the engine cover ! Looks loads better, and its actually states what it really is now VW Tdi ! Seems a bit quieter too thanks to to the sound insulation on it.

Will This Fit Galaxy ?
jkspoff replied to jkspoff's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
Ok, thanks for the replies, I will stay clear, it sounds too complex to make it worth it ! But from one extreme to the other, how easy do you recon this will be to fit in the Gal ?? It looks excellent and good value too, but what about the connectors etc. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/E626-7-LCD-IN-DASH-T...1QQcmdZViewItem -
The new shape Ford CD player is better spec and better looking than the old 6000 series, it is also double height and double DIN, does anyone know if it will fit the Galaxy straight in ? i.e. the one below from ebay. Ta http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-New-Focus-6000-...oQQcmdZViewItem

Mark 2 Granada wheels are the same stud pattern as the mark 1 Galaxy, but sometimes need wheel spacers fitting.

That was the funniest prank I've ever seen, priceless !

It must just be a psychological thing, I think that garages tend to take better care of a clean car, maybe its just me ! Anyway the main thing is it passed. Only a couple of advisory items, front tyres near limit and both front lower suspension arm rear bushes starting to split, whatever they are, anyone any idea ? Plus test only cost

Sounds like a fantastic and original idea, count me in Maz, I can offer the link for all or part of the West Yorkshire area depending on volunteers. My chosen charity would be either Child Line or NSPCC. Good luck with the organising, if you need help give me a shout. :o
