  1. that white smoke could be steam, a symptom of a failed cylinder head gasket. check your coolant level.
  2. Yep, Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station. :) Your colleagues at Torness might need your help before then. They both tripped at the same time last Tuesday evening and havent been seen since !
  3. Do you work at one of the nukes??
  4. No joy I'm afraid and without the fault code even less of a chance of finding it. None of the EOBDII fault code descriptions include the word "flame" either. :( :(
  5. I'll see what I can find out. I'm working night shift tonight so will have loads of time to surf!! Thanks, it would be interesting to find out. <_< As an aside, just posted a reply regarding your ECU Remap, if you could take a look.

  7. I take it he didn't do a screen dump of the codes for this fault??
  8. Could anyone tell me what differences there are between a Ford Direct Warranty and a standard Ford Warranty in its 3rd year? Reason why I ask is my Ford Direct warranty has now expired but I still have 3months remaining before the car is officially 3 years old. The only difference I can see so far is the absence of RAC cover. Thanks.
  9. OK. Here's the final offer: 60% discount (on wheels, centre caps and fitting) + 12months guarantee + Keep old wheels. In reality the existing wheels really aren't that bad at all and should fetch a good price to recover some of these costs. At least then slightest blemish on the new ones and straight round to Ford Man for another set !!
  10. For all you diesel drivers out there, have you noticed an improvement in MPG during the hot weather?? Mine has increased from 40MPG to 50MPG and I ain't doing anything different. If anything I'm pushing it more with the A/C on almost permanently!! I accept that a warmer engine to start with makes things that bit easier for it to turn over but 10MPG!! I normally fill up every 500miles when the gauge just passes the last white marker, but at the moment I've done 590miles and still have a quarter of a tank left.
  11. I changed mine at 30,000 miles. You'll find it just towards the bulkhead on the right hand side of the engine block. It's held in place by a plastic clamp and has about 3 pipes connected to the top of it. Easy but fiddly.
  12. Ok well round 1 is over. They offered a 50% contribution towards new wheels, centre caps and fitting. This would still leave me with a
  13. The warning light can mean either front, rear or both. I took mine into Ford Rapid Fit today. They advised the discs were fine and would probably need changing the next time the pads were replaced. Excellent!! :16: Total cost (inc VAT) was
  14. this will at least leave me with some change when it comes to replacing the front !!
  15. Fellow Gal drivers, My E-Cat DVD is on the blink and being a Sunday the Dealers are shut. Does anybody have a recent price for Ford rear pads and discs for a 2003 Diesel Galaxy?? I'm just looking to gather together prices before I decide where to go and get them. Thanks.
  16. Top bloke! That's a great post.
  17. Ok then battle hath commenced! My local Ford dealer are now approaching Ford Customer Care to see what's on offer and advise me I may need to make a contribution towards replacement. So far my lips are still sealed with a response to that comment as I await the initial offering. As Robocop once said, "Your move creep." Incidentally, and if you don't mind me asking, how much was your token gesture??
  18. Does anybody on this forum have the new style Ghia alloy wheels that are say at least 18 months old?? Any signs of deterioration?
  19. Think carefully before switching to Dunlop on the front. My came from Ford Direct with 5 Dunlop 2020E tyres. The back ones are still on having covered 45000miles now but the front ones lasted 19,000miles and struggled for grip most of the time. I then switched to Continentals and the difference was like night and day. They gripped all the time and lasted 25,000miles. They would have gone on to 30,000 if the tracking hadn't been out and worn them unevenly. I'm now on Michelin Pilot Primacy and so far so good. How many miles has your Galaxy covered?
  20. We all know that the GHIA alloys on the MK2 Galaxy are no good at keeping their appearance (maybe othr models too). Mine are 2.5 years old and already all four are starting to show signs of discolouration. The failing condition of the centre caps goes without question also. My question though: Around 2004 onwards the style of the 16" GHIA alloy was changed slightly. One difference was the grooves in the spokes were much shorter. Does anybody know if the discolouration issues have been resolved with this alloy even though my local Ford dealer insists he knows of no problems with the Galaxy!
  21. Persistance has paid off and the job is now complete!! Connected up an FM Modulator as well to broadcast sound to the car speakers and bingo, happy passengers in the back !
