before certain people jump in and offer advice! lets check to see what model the OP has and then decide if it actually has remote locking?

Headlight Adjustment For Europe
mk2vr6 replied to yozzer61's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
HID's can be set for rhd or lhd drive by flicking a lever on the rear of the light unit, standard halogen light units do not have this feature -
do the timeing chains while the box is out, makes it a lot easier to it now while you have the chance
-
it was for the mk1/2 but the OP has a mk3! but my money is him still being over weight according to the standards you like to quote ;) around 120+ kg any advances? :)

front quarter light is held into place from the inside, remove the trim around the A post/dash and you'll find three nuts, undo and out pops the glass! as for the screen? well the wing panel extends up along side the lower half of the screen, so I would say that the screen would have to come out and you'll need a welder in order to fit the new wing!

Advice Please For New Galaxy Owner
mk2vr6 replied to dalminty's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
1 yes, small fan in unit drags air over sensor 2 check the loom to the door, common fault/failure 3. yellowy brown slippery stuff available in plastic containers from good garages and auto stores ;) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?showtopic=4290 -
duh! it feels laboured in fourth gear at 30mph! well dont do it then! plain and simple it feels wrong then it aint meant to be doing it SO DONT! and kebrina you have a 2.8 VR6 ;) its never going to be the most economical car on the road especially linked to a slush box, so quit yer moaning, open the window, boot it and listen to the noise the engine makes :D its truely lush, a sound that should be savoured! and as you drive past the sad Tdi owners in their flat caps, tweed jackets with elbow pads and driveing gloves on stareing at the mpg gauge look across smile politely and then flip em the bird as you speed off to the next filling station :P

How To Wire Up A Relay...
mk2vr6 replied to koro's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
you said the yellow wire in an earlier post to feed the dipped lights? are you sure on that? cos my diags show the dipped feed to be either a yellow/black or a white wire both fed from different fuses! I would go back and check all the fuses to be on the safe side before you start cutting into the loom! -

Changing Rear Discs And Pads Tomorrow
mk2vr6 replied to Jayton's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
please explain how the fluid goes both ways through the abs block? in what is in it simplist form a single piped system, as there is no return feed back from the calipers to the abs block, yes the fluid does move in a slight to and fro motion in the pipes when you stomp on the pedal, BUT! the fluid and the crap in the system is never pulled backed into the abs valve block or even gets close unless you use your method also if as you keep saying that doing it your way will cause no problem please explain to all of us why the fluid in the reservoir is still the nice clean stuff and the crap you drain from the caliper end is dirty and contaminated with debri surely as we understand it from you it should all be the same quality! -
yes! climb into the boot, pull the lower hatch trim away from the lower edge of the rear screen without breaking it! reach down into the hatch, you'll find the lock mech, you need to flip the latch, you should be able to feel a small paddle/lever? operate this and the hatch should open! if you dont want to risk breaking the trim panel? then you'll need to cut a inspection hatch in it to gain access to the lock mech, good luck I've done several time to Galaxy's in breakers yards so you dont need power to the lock to operate it

Electric Motor In Cooling System
mk2vr6 replied to charley black's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
1. yes due the deep cycle....... alternator specification........ cant remember why exactly but yes 2. after run pump used to circulate the coolant through the block and rad to eliminate hot spots forming, linked into the fans running, controlled by one of the engine/coolant sensors..... just how long is it running for? does it out last the fans? -
What Type Of Locking Do I Have
mk2vr6 replied to sparky123's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
the IR system was crap from day one! short range and line of sight operation at the best of times, forget it and fit an after market remote locking kit, fairly easy to fit and a lot more reliable than the standard OR IR set up -
Central Locking Failed - Cannot Open Tailgate
mk2vr6 replied to nigelbb's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
you dont need to remove it fully to gain access to the locking mech, with the panel pulled away at the bottom of the rear screen to gain access, if you reach down into the rear door you can manually trip the lock and open the rear hatch :( -

mk2vr6 replied to dave030445's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
not all, the lower spec aspens didnt all have and it was an option on some others in the range to start with but a 97 ghia x? I would have expected it to be standard fit on such a higher specced model? -
if anywhere its going to be behind the battery to the rhd side of the expansion bottle, but from memory IIRC? you dont have one!
